From Hanoi, follow National Highway 5 about 25km to Ban Yen Nhan town (formerly a village of Van Phu commune), My Hao district, where there is a profession of making Ban soy sauce.
Coming to the craft village of Hung Yen , you will see a whole street selling soy sauce. There are many stalls selling right at home, some rent large premises.
The ingredients to make Ban sauce are not difficult to find, mainly sticky rice and soybeans. However, to make a batch of delicious sauce requires the technique and experience of each household.
Cooking soy sauce consists of three main steps: molding sticky rice, soaking beans, and fermenting soy sauce. First, the cook will soak the sticky rice and then cook it into sticky rice.

Currently, in the yard of Mr. Minh Quat's family, the ancient house is still preserved. In the yard, there are about 800 jars for making soy sauce, each jar is about 100-110 liters.
In addition to yellow soy sauce, Minh Quat's facility also makes black soy sauce.
According to Minh Quat's daughter-in-law, black soy sauce is also brewed with soybeans. After brewing, a part of the soy sauce is filtered and then cooked into black soy sauce. Black soy sauce is used in cooking processes such as braising fish, and also gives an even yellow color.
