In early July, many people enjoyed the opportunity to visit the longan orchard of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh (Bau Cong hamlet, Hau Nghia commune). The orchard, less than 1 hectare in size, is divided into two smaller areas with over 380 longan trees currently in harvest season. Many trees are bearing fruit.

Ms. Anh shared that her family has been growing longan trees for nearly 6 years. Initially, she bought 600 longan saplings from Dong Nai province to plant. However, due to lack of experience, the trees weakened and died gradually during the planting process, leaving only about 400 trees.

To protect consumers' health, Mrs. Anh's family chose to grow longan using organic and manure-based fertilizers. After three years, the orchard began to bear fruit, but the yield was not high, bringing in only a few tens of millions of dong per harvest. This year, however, Mrs. Anh's family opened their orchard to visitors, allowing them to pick longan fruit directly from the trees.

Through social media, many people learned about her family's longan orchard. Ms. Anh shared that in mid-June 2025, when her family's longan orchard first opened to visitors for sightseeing and buying longan, it attracted more than 300 people, and she earned over 10 million VND.

Over the past three weeks, the family's longan orchard has welcomed hundreds of visitors, with the busiest days being weekends. Most visitors are young people from both the local area and beyond. They come to tour the orchard, take souvenir photos, and harvest fruit.

Visitors experience picking longan fruit in the orchard.

Ms. Tran Bao Ngan (Zone B, Hau Nghia Commune) shared that she learned about the longan orchard in Bau Cong Hamlet through Facebook. Located about 20 minutes by motorbike from her house, it was very convenient for both sightseeing and fruit picking. Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hung (An Ninh Commune) and his group of friends also learned about the longan orchard through social media. This past weekend, they visited the orchard to sightsee and pick fruit.

Mr. Hung said that the experience of picking fruit is not new, but being able to experience, visit, and eat at the orchard with family and friends, without spending too much time traveling, is also a rather enjoyable form of entertainment.

Ms. Anh further informed that, to facilitate visitors from afar or families and groups of friends visiting the orchard, her family also serves traditional country dishes. In addition, her family is also developing the land behind their house to plant several dozen more durian trees to expand their fruit orchard.

It is known that currently, besides Mrs. Anh's family's longan orchard, Hau Nghia commune also has a number of households growing longan trees or intercropping longan with other fruit trees. In addition, some neighboring localities such as An Ninh commune, Hoa Khanh commune, etc., also have some households converting traditional crops to fruit trees such as rambutan, durian, mulberry, longan, etc.
