With a total fruit tree area of over 94,000 hectares in the province, including jackfruit, bananas, mangoes, rambutan, durian, etc., along with the lush green of vast industrial crops, natural forests, planted forests, rice fields, and peaceful countryside areas, the scorching sun is softened, and the tranquil atmosphere of the countryside soothes the soul.
Admire the durian blossom season.
Mr. Trinh Cao Khai (from Xuan Lap ward, Dong Nai province) agreed to guide us on a tour of his orchard. Mr. Khai explained: Depending on the durian variety, the flowering time (pollination) after the appearance of flower buds on the trunk and branches ranges from 45-60 days. Therefore, after the Lunar New Year, farmers dedicate all their time to caring for the trees, selecting and nurturing young fruit.

Mr. Khai confided: Because the weather is intensely sunny in January, the garden is dry and airy, so even though the children and grandchildren come to visit and celebrate Tet for an extended period with their grandparents, some still refuse to go home with their parents, asking permission to stay longer to swing in hammocks under the durian trees with their swaying flower clusters releasing a fragrant aroma in the garden.
The flock of over 100 chickens belonging to farmer couple Luong Van Bay (in Nam Cat Tien commune, Dong Nai province) has now dwindled to just a few young chickens running and foraging in their 2-hectare durian orchard. According to Mr. and Mrs. Bay, the chickens were reserved for their children, grandchildren, and friends who came to visit and admire the durian blossoms. Mr. and Mrs. Bay happily remind their children and friends to visit the orchard in a few months to enjoy the first durians of the season and take some home as gifts.
Durian trees have been grown by farmers in communes and wards such as Nghia Trung, Bu Dang, and Binh Long in Dong Nai province for quite some time. However, they became most popular from 2010 to the present, when people from the Southwestern region of Vietnam came to buy land and establish orchards, popularizing durian varieties and cultivation techniques.
take care of.
Farmer Tran Van Bao (in Binh Long ward, Dong Nai province) said: "Previously, farmers only planted durian from seeds, and the cultivation techniques were not advanced, so the yield and flowering season were unstable. Now, switching to grafted durian, with clear origins and sources of seedlings, farmers can easily control the flowering and fruiting. For example, stimulating the tree to form buds in early December of the previous year, the trees bloom profusely in January, and are ready for harvest in April-May of the lunar calendar. Throughout the dry season, farmers always keep their durian orchards clean and airy to nourish the flowers and fruits, and it's also a time to welcome children, relatives, and friends to visit and stay for extended periods."
Every year, despite being busy with work and studies far away, my children always call to ask when the durian trees in the garden will open their fruiting buds and bear fruit so they can bring their children and friends to visit, take souvenir photos, enjoy the fruit to their heart's content, and give some as gifts to close friends and family.

A place where flowers and fruits beckon you to stop.
The land of Nhon Trach commune, Dong Nai province, is renowned for its many delicious fruits with the rich flavor of alluvial soil, such as jackfruit, rambutan, mangosteen, and Long Tan bananas. Therefore, the development of eco-tourism and garden tourism models is not only of interest to the local government but also very attractive to farmers.

Chairman of the Nhon Trach Commune Farmers' Association, Nguyen Huy Sang, shared: "Besides encouraging local farmers to develop eco-tourism in their orchards to increase their income, the locality aims to work with the people and farmers to introduce to tourists the land, culture, and people of Nhon Trach commune, known for its hospitable nature, seasonal fruits, and rich local specialties such as Phu Hoi tea, fermented rice wine, rice paper, fermented fish sauce, and black glutinous rice wine..."
The fruit trees in Long Khánh and Xuân Lộc are just as abundant as those in other areas of Biên Hòa - Đồng Nai, a land rich in cultural traditions, history, and camaraderie. Areas like Bình Lộc, Long Khánh, and Xuân Định are famous for their fruit trees such as jackfruit, rambutan, durian, and pomelo. Thanks to the favorable soil, ample land, and the resourcefulness of the farmers, the eco-tourism model is thriving, attracting many visitors who come to relax, escape the heat, and enjoy traditional dishes during the early spring.
Mr. Tran Quoc Phong, owner of the Ut Tieu eco-tourism orchard in Binh Loc ward, said: "During the week, my orchard welcomes over 1,000 visitors. Visitors usually flock in on weekends, when the fruit ripens. Thanks to eco-tourism in the orchards, farmers in Binh Loc ward earn 2-3 times more revenue than from fruit and trees alone."
Binh Loc Ward in Dong Nai Province has over 3,000 hectares of fruit trees, of which more than 100 orchards have been and are developing eco-tourism models. With such a large area of fruit trees, the orchards are not only invested in and cared for systematically but also planted flowers, ornamental plants, created ponds, lakes, streams, and rice paddies to enhance the aesthetic appeal.
Mr. Hoang Duc Liem, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Binh Loc Ward, shared: "Ecotourism is not only attractive to young people, city dwellers, and nature lovers, but also to farmers. The highlight of ecotourism is its reasonable price, and the garden owners are down-to-earth, tell stories, and are enthusiastic and attentive to guests, so visitors can easily find the rustic charm of their hometown and loved ones."
The ecotourism season at orchards becomes bustling at the end of the year, the beginning of the new year, and right when summer fruits ripen from April to May according to the lunar calendar. During their visit to the orchards, tourists can pick and enjoy various fruits on the spot.

The Đồng Nai region is now even more lush with fruit trees after the merger of the former Đồng Nai and Bình Phước provinces. Therefore, Đồng Nai province has clearly defined its perspective in the plan for fruit tree development in the province for the period 2025-2030: Developing fruit trees based on leveraging the potential and advantages of ecological zones; improving the quality, added value, and competitiveness of products; protecting the ecological environment; and adapting to climate change. At the same time, Đồng Nai province consistently affirms the need to establish concentrated, large-scale key fruit production areas, linked to the development of processing technology, deep processing, product diversification, and market expansion, promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector; and developing the total area of fruit trees throughout the province…
