The hospital will welcome more than 10,000 births, perform nearly 7,300 surgeries and 181,000 procedures, over 200,000 high-tech tests, and 100,000 ultrasound and diagnostic imaging examinations. The number of safe births and no maternal deaths… reflect our solid professional capacity, modern paraclinical system, and comprehensive response capabilities.”
In pediatrics and neonatal resuscitation, techniques such as continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), central venous catheter placement, parenteral nutrition, and care for premature infants born between 26 and 34 weeks are thriving. The hospital has successfully treated many cases of dengue fever, hand-foot-mouth disease, septic shock, and severe and critical neonatal diseases. While caring for her child at the hospital, Ms. Doan Thi Anh Thu, residing in Nhon My commune, shared: “My child has hand-foot-mouth disease, for which there is no specific cure, only symptomatic treatment. The doctors are dedicated, so the family feels very reassured. The newly built ward has modern wards and equipment, clean restrooms, and a well-ventilated environment, making it more comfortable for us to care for our child.”
In front of the Outpatient Department, a smart kiosk helps patients register quickly, ensuring standardized information and providing safety and transparency when paying hospital fees. The hospital has also implemented electronic medical records, moving towards eliminating paper medical records; and applied a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scans to optimize workflows, reduce patient waiting times, save on printing costs, and manage images more effectively.

Along with professional support from higher-level hospitals, the hospital continues to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment, develop specialized departments, expand high-tech services, and standardize professional procedures, aiming to become a leading modern obstetrics and pediatrics center in the region.”
Dr. Doan Thanh Thai, Head of the Cardiovascular Intervention Unit, stated: “The implementation of cardiovascular intervention techniques, especially congenital heart disease interventions, is of great significance in helping children with heart disease to be detected and treated early, reducing costs and travel time for people, and improving long-term treatment effectiveness.” In the field of obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Le Minh Chau from the General Planning Department noted that the need to develop advanced techniques is essential, especially in the context of the increasing rate of complex obstetric and gynecological diseases. “Investing in and implementing modern techniques helps improve the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment, ensuring safety for pregnant women and newborns,” Dr. Le Minh Chau shared.
Currently, the demand for healthcare is enormous, diverse, and specialized, requiring the healthcare sector to constantly innovate, improve professional quality, and enhance the application of high technology in diagnosis and treatment. With a clear development orientation, synchronized investment in human resources and equipment, and professional support from higher-level hospitals, An Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is gradually raising the quality of medical examination and treatment, better meeting the healthcare needs of mothers and children.
