On the sidelines of the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane (Laos), on October 10, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung had a meeting with his counterpart - Lao Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Baykham Khattiya. It can be said that the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits have been a great success so far. Minister Dao Ngoc Dung assessed that the initiatives proposed by Laos were very useful. The Minister also congratulated his counterpart Baykham Khattiya and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare for successfully chairing and leading ASEAN cooperation activities in the field of labor, with the submission to the ASEAN leaders for approval of 2/9 declarations of the Socio-Cultural Community, which are major issues related to people and labor. Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that in their meetings with the head of the Vietnamese Government, senior Lao leaders always raised the issue of promoting agricultural cooperation between the two countries, especially promoting labor cooperation between localities of Vietnam and Laos in the two years of 2025-2026. Sharing specific issues, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that Vietnam plans to increase the number and raise the level of scholarships for Lao students; at the same time, consider a mechanism for Lao students to have more time in Vietnam to study and gain work experience after graduation. The Minister added that the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will host the 9th Vietnam-Laos Labor and Social Welfare Ministers' Conference in Vietnam. The Ministry will develop a project to report to the Prime Minister and soon inform about the time and venue of the event.
