Ms. Hoang Xuan Sinh was born in 1933, from Cot village, Tu Liem, Hanoi , now in Yen Hoa ward, Cau Giay district, Hanoi.

Mathematics professor Hoang Xuan Sinh decided to pursue Mathematics after graduating with a first-class baccalaureate degree from Chu Van An High School.

In 1951, her uncle took her to study at Toulouse University in France, where she chose to obtain a second baccalaureate degree in Mathematics.

In 1960, she returned to Vietnam and worked at the Mathematics Department of Hanoi Pedagogical University, both teaching and doing scientific research.

During this time she wrote her thesis: "Gr-category Theory" under the guidance of the famous French mathematician Alexander Grothendieck.

In 1975, she went to France to defend her doctoral thesis at the University of Paris 7, part of the Sorbonne University system, and received the first female doctorate in mathematics in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

In 1980, she was awarded the title of professor by the State Council of Professors. She was the first female mathematics professor in Vietnam.
