Vietnam has emerged as the most popular Asian destination for French tourists this summer, with the number of visitors increasing by 54.7% over the same period last year.
A recent article published in the daily newspaper Le Figaro said that amid the volatile global economy , Vietnam has made a prominent mark in the world tourism picture, becoming "a successful phenomenon of French tourism in 2025."
The newspaper cited figures from the French Association of Tour Operators (SETO) showing that while many traditional French destinations such as Greece, Turkey, Thailand and the US have seen a decline in the number of visitors due to natural disasters, political instability or rising costs, Vietnam has achieved the strongest growth in the region, far surpassing other Asian countries.
The article said: “Vietnam is enjoying tourism success with the number of French visitors increasing by 54.7% in just one year.”
According to Le Figaro, this is the highest increase among international destinations outside Europe, showing a clear trend of French tourists this year: prioritizing safe countries, with reasonable costs and offering unique cultural experiences.
French tourism experts say this result is thanks to Vietnam's stable environment, flexible visa policies and competitive service prices.
The 45-day visa exemption for citizens of France and many European countries, along with the increasingly convenient direct flight network between Paris and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, has made Vietnam an attractive choice for French tourists wanting to explore Asia.
Besides the cost factor, Vietnam is also highly appreciated for its diverse tourism products, combining cultural heritage, nature, cuisine and resorts. The image of a friendly, peaceful and unique destination helps Vietnam stand out in the region, especially when many Asian countries are affected by natural disasters or political tensions.
According to Mr. Patrice Caradec, President of SETO Association, Vietnam will continue to maintain strong growth momentum in the coming winter, when the demand for booking tours from France to Vietnam, Cambodia and South Korea remains high. He emphasized: “Vietnam is likely to continue this growth momentum in the coming time.”
Also according to Le Figaro newspaper, in the list of winter destinations favored by French tourists, Vietnam continues to be in the top group along with Egypt and the Dominican Republic.
With impressive growth rates, increasingly modern tourism infrastructure and a safe and friendly national image, Vietnam is affirming its position as one of the "new bright spots" of Asian tourism in 2025, while consolidating its firm position on the world tourism map./.
