Da Nang accelerates to the finish line: Economy flourishes, GRDP increases by nearly 10%

The Da Nang City Party Executive Committee held its first conference to evaluate the results of the past 9 months, pointed out shortcomings, and proposed 6 key groups of solutions to complete the 2025 goals.

On October 10, the Executive Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee held the first Conference to evaluate the work situation in the third quarter of 2025, the first 9 months of the year, discuss solutions to implement tasks in the fourth quarter and give opinions on the contents according to the working regulations.

In his opening speech, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, said that in recent times, all levels and sectors have focused on consolidating, perfecting, and stabilizing the organizational apparatus; and operating the two-level local government model to ensure smoothness and synchronization.

The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system has been focused on. The study, dissemination and implementation of the Central Committee's directives and resolutions have been carried out seriously, systematically and in an orderly manner. The Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term and the 1st Congress of the City Party Committee have been successfully held, creating a new momentum and strengthening the trust of cadres, Party members and the People. The city's economy in the first 9 months of the year has had many bright spots, being one of the few localities to continue to grow by over 10%.

However, Mr. Triet said: “We also need to frankly acknowledge that there are still certain shortcomings and limitations. I suggest that delegates focus on analyzing and discussing clearly the difficulties and problems and propose key tasks and solutions to strive to successfully complete the 2025 goals, creating a solid foundation for the entire term.”

The Secretary of the City Party Committee pointed out a number of problems such as the arrangement of cadres, the work of grasping the situation and people's thoughts, the disbursement rate of public investment capital is still low (reaching about 50.3%). He suggested focusing on discussing, drawing experiences, and implementing well Directive No. 45-CT/TW of the Politburo ; giving opinions on the draft Working Regulations of the City Party Executive Committee, term I, 2025 - 2030, ensuring compliance with Central regulations and closeness to reality.

Reporting at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, said that the work of the City Party Committee in all aspects over the past 9 months continued to be stable and achieved positive results. The work of Party building, organizational apparatus and two-level government was vigorously deployed, gradually coming into stable operation.

The city's economy has achieved many remarkable results. The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 9 months of the year is estimated to have increased by 9.83%. The tourism and service sectors have recovered strongly, with more than 14.4 million overnight guests, up 22.3% over the same period.

Total retail sales of goods reached VND103,162 billion, up 16.3%; export turnover reached USD3,481 million, up 16.8%; import reached USD3,296 million, up 8.6%. Budget revenue reached VND40,228 billion, equal to 79.31% of the estimate; disbursement of public investment capital reached 45.6% of the plan.

In addition, there are still limitations. Some policies and conclusions of the City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee have not been effectively implemented; the two-level government model is still entangled; Party organizations in new units are not unified; the grassroots staff is both "excessive and insufficient", especially specialized human resources in information technology, land, and construction. The number of enterprises temporarily ceasing operations or dissolving has increased; some households escaping poverty is not sustainable; the social housing fund has not met the demand; cybercrime, drugs, and violations among teenagers are still potentially complicated.

To complete the 2025 goal, the City Party Executive Committee agreed to focus on effectively implementing the City Party Committee Resolution with the theme: "A year focusing on streamlining the apparatus associated with cutting administrative procedures, effectively implementing urban government organization and specific mechanisms and policies to promote economic growth."

The city has identified six key groups of solutions, focusing on building and rectifying the Party and the political system; striving to achieve double-digit GRDP growth; promoting digital transformation and administrative reform; issuing a set of indexes to evaluate and rank digital transformation in October and December 2025. At the same time, promoting the disbursement of public investment capital to reach 100%; summarizing the Project on developing grassroots cultural and sports institutions until 2025 and proposing a new phase; ensuring absolute security and safety for important political, cultural and social works and events of the city./.
