Vietnam firmly supports multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam supports multilateralism, the central role of the United Nations and enhanced international cooperation.

On the occasion of attending the 3rd United Nations Ocean Summit (UNOC 3) in Nice, France, on June 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received President of the United Nations General Assembly Philemon Yang.

It is a pleasure to meet again and congratulate President of the United Nations General Assembly Philemon Yang who has just delivered a comprehensive and profound opening speech at the Conference. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam firmly supports multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in global governance; and stated that in the context of many urgent global issues emerging today, such as climate change, resource depletion, and population aging, countries need to strengthen international solidarity, uphold international law and a global, all-people, and comprehensive approach.

Providing information on Vietnam's national development strategy and foreign policy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hoped that as President of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Philemon Yang would continue to support and promote cooperation between the United Nations and Vietnam, including continuing to effectively implement programs and projects in Vietnam, training human resources for Vietnam, and creating conditions for more Vietnamese people to work in United Nations agencies.

The Prime Minister thanked the President, as former Prime Minister of Cameroon, for always supporting and promoting the Vietnam-Cameroon relationship, and asked President Philemon Yang to continue promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries to become deeper, more effective and stronger; affirmed that Vietnam is ready to support Cameroon in developing agriculture and that Vietnamese enterprises, including Viettel, are ready to expand their investment in Cameroon.

Highlighting Vietnam's contributions to the activities of the United Nations, as well as its respect for the United Nations Charter, the President of the United Nations General Assembly highly appreciated the good relations between Vietnam and the United Nations and Cameroon; and said he was very impressed with Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements.

Welcoming Vietnam's active and dynamic role and increasing position, Chairman Philemon Yang agreed to cooperate with Vietnam to promote compliance with the United Nations Charter, international law and multilateralism.

Appreciating Vietnam's strengths in science and technology, telecommunications, agriculture, etc., President Philemon Yang affirmed that he will support promoting Vietnam-Cameroon cooperation in these areas, first of all, removing obstacles and shortcomings and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Cameroon.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister invited President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly Philemon Yang to visit Vietnam in the coming time.
