Promoting youth implementation of SDGs Welcoming Vietnam's hosting of the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference, Vice President of the Algerian National Assembly Monder Bouden expressed his impression of the hospitality, thoughtfulness and professionalism of the host country Vietnam. Being warmly and enthusiastically welcomed, the delegates attending the Conference were very pleased to attend this event. According to Mr. Monder Bouden, the theme "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through Digital Transformation and Innovation" of the Conference was highly appreciated by international friends because it was topical, attracted many people's attention and was suitable for contemporary issues. This theme emphasizes promoting the role of youth in implementing the United Nations' SDGs through digital transformation, innovation and start-up trends. Vietnam is considered by international observers to be a country with a good growth rate. It is forecasted that from now until 2045, Vietnam will transform into a high-income country, a developed country. "Your country is a successful example in implementing sustainable development goals," said the Vice President of the Algerian National Assembly. With many common historical ties, Mr. Monder Bouden said that Vietnam and Algeria need to strengthen relations, trade exchanges, and economic cooperation. "Vietnam has an important position in Asia, so you need to aim for a further goal. Algeria is a country at the gateway to Africa, we look forward to strengthening cooperation with Vietnam," said Mr. Monder Bouden. Honourable Fikile Masiko, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, said that digital transformation, especially for young people, is always a top priority of this country. “South Africa and the South African Parliament always encourage and create the best possible educational conditions to attract young people to participate in digital transformation as well as catch up with global trends,” said Honourable Fikile Masiko.

Connecting young people, young parliamentarians Sharing the same view, Belgian parliamentarian Wouter Vermeersh highly appreciated the theme of the Conference because young people are particularly interested in new technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and creative startups. The Conference will contribute to connecting young people and young parliamentarians in these areas. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Belgium organized online meetings and discussions, contributing to truly changing parliamentary activities. The pandemic has passed, but Mr. Wouter Vermeersh said that we need to continue applying digital transformation and new technologies to better serve parliamentary activities. "Many countries have made positive steps in this. Therefore, young parliamentarians from around the world gather here to exchange and learn from each other's experiences in promoting sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation," said the Belgian parliamentarian. Mr. Wouter Vermeersh expressed his impression of the thoughtful preparation, responsibility, warm and hospitable welcome of the host country Vietnam. Recalling his working trip to Vietnam with President of the Belgian Senate Stéphanie D'Hose last August, Belgian MP Wouter Vermeersh said: "Vietnamese people welcome international guests very enthusiastically and thoughtfully, we are very happy and grateful. With these factors, organizing the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference in Vietnam is very suitable and favorable."

Expressing interest in the Discussion Session “Promoting respect for cultural diversity for sustainable development”, delegate Nguyen Thi Ha said that culture is an important factor for countries to achieve sustainable development goals. Culture is also identified as one of the factors that plays a decisive role in the strength and position of each country and nation in the international arena. Vietnam's inclusion of culture and people in sustainable development at this Conference has demonstrated the viewpoint of our Party and State to put culture on par with economics, politics , and society; developing culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country. At this session, parliamentarians exchanged common views and experiences in promoting the development of culture and people in each country. “In the trend of global integration, respecting the richness of cultures, sharing experiences, promoting digital transformation and innovation are very important and necessary tasks for young people. Cultural diversity is the strength for sustainable development, nurturing creativity and innovation. Respecting and promoting cultural diversity contributes to promoting understanding and increasing mutual respect between nations and peoples,” said delegate Nguyen Thi Ha.
