The vaccine is used for people aged 4 years and older, regardless of whether or not they have had dengue fever. This is the first dengue vaccine licensed in Vietnam for individuals without the need for testing before vaccination.

The newly approved dengue fever vaccine is expected to be available in Vietnam from September 2024.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease that poses a global health threat, circulating in more than 125 countries. Along with climate change, dengue fever is increasingly increasing, putting pressure and overload on domestic medical facilities. In Dak Lak province, in the first 5 months of 2024, the whole province recorded 300 cases of dengue fever.

While waiting for the dengue fever vaccine to be available in Vietnam, the health sector recommends that the main and most effective disease prevention measure at present is to kill mosquitoes, kill larvae, and prevent mosquito bites. People need to check, detect and kill larvae and mosquito bites in water containers by regularly washing, covering tanks and water containers tightly, releasing fish to kill larvae and mosquito bites; removing waste materials, natural water holes, turning over unused water containers that can contain water, dropping salt or larvae-killing chemicals into aquariums, rockeries, and refrigerator waste water trays; sleeping under mosquito nets to prevent mosquito bites even during the day, wearing long-sleeved clothes, using mosquito sprays, mosquito coils, and electric rackets to kill mosquitoes and prevent mosquito bites...
