Vietnam always attaches importance to relations with traditional friends, including Uzbekistan.

NDO - On October 24, on the occasion of attending the BRICS Leaders' Summit in Kazan, Russian Federation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.


The two leaders expressed their delight at the development of Vietnam-Uzbekistan relations after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that he always attaches importance to relations with traditional friendly countries, including Uzbekistan, and hopes that both sides will continue to promote the political foundation, promote visits and exchanges of delegations at all levels, creating momentum for enhanced cooperation, in accordance with the needs, desires and strengths of the two countries.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev conveyed his congratulations to President Luong Cuong and expressed his impression of Vietnam's achievements in innovation and socio-economic development in recent times; affirmed that Vietnam is a reliable partner of Uzbekistan in the Asian region; and hoped that Vietnam would act as a bridge for Uzbekistan to expand its cooperative relations with ASEAN.

Based on the appreciation of the potential for cooperation, the two leaders agreed that the two sides still have much room for cooperation and can complement each other; agreed to step up the consolidation of the legal basis; acknowledged that economic and trade cooperation has shown signs of improvement recently; agreed to find measures to expand cooperation to other potential areas such as oil and gas, education and training, cultural exchange, tourism, people-to-people exchange, and research to open direct flights connecting destinations of the two countries.

The two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and other international organizations.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his visit and showing solidarity with Vietnam after the historic typhoon Yagi.
