In December 2022, in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium, Vietnam and the International Partnership Group (IPG) adopted the Political Declaration establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
JETP is an ambitious, long-term partnership to support Vietnam’s low-carbon and climate-resilient transition, accelerate a just transition and decarbonization of the power system, and create new economic opportunities to support Vietnam’s development towards a net-zero emissions future.
On December 1, 2023, at COP28, Vietnam and IPG officially announced the Resource Mobilization Plan (RMP) to implement the JETP Declaration. This is a new milestone in Vietnam's efforts to achieve the goal of developing clean and sustainable energy.
The JETP Implementation Secretariat was established by the Prime Minister with the task of advising the Prime Minister - Head of the COP26 Steering Committee in directing, operating, and resolving the implementation of the JETP Declaration in Vietnam.
The establishment of the JETP Vietnam website at https://jetp.moit.gov.vn/ is an important effort to increase the participation of stakeholders in the process of building a sustainable and low-carbon future.
The portal serves as a bridge between the Secretariat and IPG, GFANZ (an independent private sector-led initiative) and stakeholders, especially connecting with project proponents and developers, to promote a just energy transition within the JETP framework in Vietnam.
It is also a place to update information on strategies, action plans, progress reports, cooperation opportunities as well as policy dialogue activities, events and initiatives related to the just energy transition, contributing to enhancing understanding, connection and companionship among stakeholders – from government agencies, development partners, the private sector to communities and people.
The website provides overview information, quick updates, accuracy and transparency about the activities of JETP Vietnam.
In the coming time, the JETP Vietnam information page will continue to be upgraded and developed with new features to optimize user experience, contribute to improving communication efficiency and promptly providing content and results in the JETP implementation process in Vietnam.
