This evening, at the request of the Malaysian side, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The Malaysian Prime Minister has updated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on a number of measures taken by Malaysia as ASEAN Chair to resolve the tense situation at the Cambodia-Thailand border.
Malaysia's policy is to promote dialogue and ensure solidarity and unity in resolving the issue of border tensions between the two countries. Malaysia continues to call on both sides to exercise restraint, not to use force, and to peacefully and satisfactorily resolve disagreements on the basis of fundamental principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the two Prime Ministers' regular phone calls to promptly coordinate and share information on issues of mutual concern, demonstrating the growing political trust between the two countries in general and between the two sides' senior leaders in particular in the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as well as Malaysia in its capacity as ASEAN Chair in promoting the resolution of the border tension between Cambodia and Thailand. In particular, the meeting between the Cambodian Prime Minister and the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand on July 28 resulted in a ceasefire agreement, which is the first positive step to help control the escalation of the conflict between the two countries.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always supports and is ready to participate in ASEAN's efforts in general and coordinate with the Chair country Malaysia in particular in resolving regional issues and maintaining solidarity within the bloc.
Vietnam is ready to send representatives to participate in ASEAN-led mechanisms to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand as proposed by the Malaysian Chairman and pay attention to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of the two countries.
Discussing bilateral cooperation, the two Prime Ministers agreed to continue to exchange, enhance trust, and coordinate the implementation of measures to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; focusing on promoting cooperation in innovation, science and technology, energy, and power transmission between Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore to form an ASEAN power grid. In addition, the two sides will soon sign an agreement on rice trade so that Vietnam can support Malaysia in ensuring food security.
The two Prime Ministers also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, including trade and tariff issues with other countries, for peace, stability and prosperity of the two countries, the region and the world.
