This result clearly reflects the post-pandemic travel trend, when tourists increasingly prioritize countries with diverse landscapes, unique cultures and reasonable costs.
Indonesia scores with the resort paradise of Bali and its thousands of majestic islands. Thailand continues to maintain its appeal thanks to its friendliness, rich cuisine and famous beaches such as Phuket and Pattaya. Meanwhile, Vietnam emerges with attractive destinations such as Ha Long, Hoi An and Phu Quoc, combining natural beauty with historical and cultural values.
In addition, flexible visa policies, increasingly developed tourism infrastructure and effective promotional campaigns have also contributed to bringing these three countries to the top search list. This shows the great potential of intra-APAC tourism and the trend of exploring destinations that are close but rich in experiences.
Statistics from Traveloka – Southeast Asia's leading integrated travel platform – were conducted during the EPIC Sale 2025 program, taking place from April 22 to May 5 with discounts of up to 60% on air, accommodation and experience services.
Launched simultaneously in 07 key markets in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and Australia, the EPIC Sale program not only offers unmissable deals but also points out changing trends in travel preferences.
Beyond the numbers, the campaign reflects the trend of taking advantage of long holidays and summer vacations, with increasing interest in destinations rich in cultural experiences, rich in nature and family-friendly.
Top Destinations Revealed
Alongside Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, Traveloka’s EPIC Sale noted that international destinations such as Japan, Malaysia and Singapore remain popular choices for APAC travelers. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Hue continue to be top domestic destinations, attracting strong interest from Vietnamese travelers. This reflects the strong demand for global travel as well as domestic experiences.
Leisure travel and staycations continue to grow, reflecting a preference for trips closer to home with more flexible itineraries. Based on accommodation searches, Traveloka has noted strong interest from Vietnamese travelers in destinations such as Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, and Da Lat. These locations are popular for short trips, typically lasting 3 days and 2 nights, to relax, enjoy local cuisine, and explore family-friendly activities. This trend is in line with a strong shift towards more conscious travel, where convenience and affordability are increasingly important.
Air travel remains the top choice for long-distance travel, while accommodation preferences are becoming more diverse. During the EPIC Sale, the top five accommodation types booked by Vietnamese travelers were hotels, resorts, apartments, villas and guesthouses. This mix reflects a growing trend towards flexible accommodation options that cater to a variety of travel styles, from solo travelers, couples, families to groups of friends.
