This afternoon, in response to a question about Vietnam's reaction to Cambodia and Thailand reaching an immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: Vietnam welcomes the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement reached between Cambodia and Thailand on July 28. This is an important step towards reducing tensions and restoring peace, stability, security and safety in the region.

"We appreciate Malaysia's efforts, in its role as ASEAN Chair 2025, to actively promote and create a favorable environment for the peaceful resolution of disputes on the basis of fundamental principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter, the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and in the spirit of ASEAN friendship and solidarity, for the benefit of both sides and the region," said the spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vietnam believes that the two countries will seriously implement the ceasefire agreement, continue dialogue, seek peaceful solutions, fundamentally resolve disagreements, and contribute to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world .

Yesterday, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the two delegations of Thailand and Cambodia have reached an agreement for an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire. The ceasefire will take effect from 0:00 on July 29.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet described the talks as “a good meeting with Thai Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai”.

Leaders of the US, EU, and United Nations also welcomed the ceasefire, hoping that both sides would comply with the agreement in good faith, creating a favorable environment to resolve outstanding issues, and moving towards lasting peace.
