Becoming an official member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 2006, Vietnam Airlines has successfully renewed its IOSA Operational Safety Certificate 10 times. Since Vietnam Airlines put into operation a modern fleet of aircraft, the airline has been a model of safe aviation operations, with no unfortunate incidents related to operations.
Vietnam Airlines was selected by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as the host airline for the World Aviation Safety and Operations Conference, from July 19-21. This has demonstrated the influence, capacity, and prestige of the brand in the international arena.
Building a culture of safety
According to the company representative, during more than 30 years of establishment and development, Vietnam Airlines has identified safety as the most important principle. Therefore, establishing, consolidating and enhancing a safety culture is a key goal in the operation and management of the Corporation.
Specifically, since 2007, Vietnam Airlines has successfully built and operated a safety management system and implemented a safety culture based on safety data to forecast and identify risks, thereby promptly handling and preventing risks. The safety management system is constantly improving, meeting the standards of aviation authorities, associations and alliances that Vietnam Airlines participates in.

The highlight of the airline's safety culture is the emphasis on honesty and transparency, creating a working environment where all employees are always ready to report errors.
In parallel, Vietnam Airlines organizes training and safety propaganda sessions, seminars on risk and crisis management in aviation with foreign experts and senior leaders to ensure that management system activities and safety culture are fully and effectively implemented.
Since Vietnam Airlines put into operation its modern fleet, the airline has been a model of safe aviation operations, with no unfortunate incidents related to operations.
"The airline's safety indicators have been continuously improved in the context of rapidly expanding operations and a rapidly growing aviation market. This demonstrates the determination and efforts of the entire system to ensure absolute safety for each flight," affirmed Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Head of Vietnam Airlines' Quality and Safety Department.
Over the past nearly two decades, Vietnam Airlines has successfully renewed its IOSA (Operational Safety Assessment) certification 10 times in a row and its safety record has been highly regarded. Being selected as the host of the Global Conference on Safety and Operations demonstrates recognition of the airline's efforts in ensuring aviation safety.
"Participating in the Conference as host will be an opportunity for Vietnam Airlines to emphasize and raise awareness of the special importance of building a safety culture within the organization, towards the goal of achieving an Advanced safety culture by 2025," said Mr. Quang.
Meet world standards
According to the rankings of AirlineRatings.com (Australia), Vietnam Airlines is one of the 20 safest airlines in the world in 2023.
Mr. Dinh Viet Thang - Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that Vietnam Airlines joined IATA in 2007 and has always been one of the units with the leading aviation safety index in Vietnam.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Hang, Director of Vietnam Aviation Academy, assessed that the IATA Global Operational Safety Conference 2023 hosted by Vietnam Airlines is an important event for international aviation.
According to Ms. Hang, Vietnam Airlines, with its achievement of becoming one of the top 20 airlines in terms of safety and service quality globally, was now chosen as the organizer of this conference, demonstrating IATA's recognition of the capacity and position of this airline and of the Vietnamese aviation industry in general.
The 2023 World Aviation Safety and Operations Conference, themed “Leaders in Action: Driving Safer and More Efficient Operations”, is expected to bring together more than 800 guests, including leaders of airlines and international aviation organizations around the world, from July 19-21.
