Vietnam Airlines operates more than 43,000 flights during the summer

Adjusting carry-on baggage weight standards on Vietnam Airlines flights

(CT) - According to information from Vietnam Airlines, during the peak summer period (from May 15 to August 15, 2025), the airline will operate more than 43,000 flights across its domestic and international network, equivalent to nearly 9 million seats serving passengers. Both the number of flights and the number of seats increased by nearly 14% compared to the same period last year.

Specifically, on domestic flights, Vietnam Airlines will operate 33,000 flights with more than 6.3 million seats, an increase of more than 28%, equivalent to nearly 1.4 million additional seats compared to the regular operating schedule. Early morning and late evening flights will continue to be deployed. This is considered one of the proactive solutions in adding more seats to the market this summer. The airline will also focus on loading on routes connecting Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and tourist destinations: Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Hue, Quy Nhon, Thanh Hoa...

On the international flight network, the summer peak is also the time when Vietnam Airlines officially opens new routes: Ho Chi Minh City - Bali, Nha Trang - Busan (June 2025); Hanoi - Milan, Da Nang - Osaka (July 2025).

To ensure service capacity, Vietnam Airlines proactively pushed forward aircraft maintenance schedules and prepared operational resources. The airline also optimized flight schedules, increased fleet utilization, increased human resources, and improved ground procedures to shorten turnaround times.

►Vietnam Airlines has also just announced the adjustment of the weight standards for carry-on baggage on its flights. Accordingly, on all domestic and international routes (except Europe, Australia, America), flights to Europe, Australia, America and passengers with connecting flights from/to Europe, Australia, America, in business class, the maximum total weight is 18kg (including 2 pieces, maximum 10kg/piece) and 1 accessory.

For premium economy and economy class, the maximum total weight of 10kg (including 1 piece and 1 accessory) applies on domestic and international routes (except Europe, Australia, USA). For flights to Europe, Australia, USA and passengers with connecting flights from/to Europe, Australia, USA, the maximum total weight of carry-on baggage for premium economy class is 18kg (including 2 pieces, maximum 10kg/piece) and 1 accessory; for economy class, the maximum total weight is 12kg (including 1 piece, maximum 10kg) and 1 accessory.

The airline also noted that for flights operated by ATR72 aircraft, carry-on baggage is 7kg.
