VinFast Tamil Nadu is the third VinFast factory to be put into operation, and also the first VinFast factory to be inaugurated outside of Vietnam.
Pham Sanh Chau, general director of VinFast Asia, said the Tamil Nadu plant is a strategic milestone, not only serving the Indian market but also aiming to export to South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. VinFast has already started receiving orders from these markets.
With an area of 160 hectares, the factory is invested in a modern, highly automated production line system, including welding, painting, assembly workshops, inspection center and logistics warehouse.
When operating at full capacity, the factory is expected to create 3,000 - 3,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs in the supply chain, contributing to making Tamil Nadu an electric vehicle manufacturing hub in South Asia.
In the first phase, the factory will assemble two electric vehicle models VF6 and VF7, with a capacity of 50,000 vehicles/year and can be expanded to 150,000 vehicles/year.
In addition to manufacturing, VinFast is also building an electric vehicle ecosystem in India from assembly, distribution to after-sales and recycling. The company also cooperates with partners such as RoadGrid, myTVS, Global Assure on digital services, as well as BatX Energies on battery processing and reuse.
