The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, is organizing the International Children's Painting Competition with the theme "I Love Hanoi - City for Peace " in 2025.
This activity is aimed at commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), and also celebrating the 26th anniversary of Hanoi being honored by UNESCO as a "City for Peace."
The event is a cultural activity with profound educational significance, demonstrating the concern of the Party, the State, and President Ho Chi Minh for the younger generation – the future of the nation.
The competition is not only a healthy artistic playground for Vietnamese and international children living in the capital, but also a creative forum that inspires patriotism, the aspiration for peace, awareness of environmental preservation, and the building of a humane and sustainable world.
According to the Organizing Committee, this year's competition continues to accept entries from children aged 6-15 with content expressing love for Hanoi, their homeland, dreams of peace, opposition to war and poverty, and highlighting the beauty of nature and the friendly, humane people of Vietnam.
Entries from Vietnamese contestants can be submitted directly to the Hanoi Cultural and Library Center (Ha Dong and Ba Trieu campuses).
International contestants should submit their entries to the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations. The submission period is from August 15th to September 10th.
The closing ceremony and awards presentation are scheduled to take place on September 20th at the Octagonal House (Le Thach - Le Lai Street), featuring an exhibition of the best works.
The Organizing Committee will award 91 prizes with a total value of 126 million VND, including 1 First Prize, 10 Second Prizes, 20 Third Prizes, 30 Consolation Prizes, 10 Special Prizes, and 20 Special Prizes.
Over the years, the competition has attracted significant interest and positive participation from students in primary and secondary schools, art clubs, international schools, and a large number of children from various countries studying and living in Hanoi.
Over the seasons, many young painting talents have been discovered and nurtured, with works featuring bright colors, creative compositions, and expressing innocent yet profound emotions about love for Hanoi, national pride, environmental awareness, and the aspiration to live in a peaceful world.
Beyond its artistic value, the competition also serves as a bridge for cultural exchange between Vietnamese children and their international friends, contributing to strengthening friendship and promoting understanding between nations.
Through simple yet emotionally rich "artistic messages," the image of Hanoi - the capital city with a thousand years of history, a city for peace and creativity - continues to be widely promoted to friends around the world.
In 2025, the competition is expected to continue contributing to fostering patriotism, nurturing aesthetic abilities, and inspiring the younger generation on their journey to becoming peace-loving global citizens who respect human values and are ready to contribute to building a more prosperous and happy capital and country.
