Vu Lan Thang Hoi Festival is a unique religious activity, combining the Buddhist Vu Lan festival and the Chinese Ong Bon festival, and has become a common festival of the three ethnic groups Kinh, Khmer, and Chinese in Vinh Long province.
Vu Lan Thang Hoi Festival includes many typical rituals such as: Inviting Buddhas and gods; requesting sutras, stirring; opening the light; praying for national peace and prosperity;...
The most exciting of these is the ceremony to invite Buddhas and gods; the ceremony to request sutras, attracting tens of thousands of local people and visitors from all over the country to attend.
In November 2023, the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Cau Ke festival was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. In 2019, the Minh Duc Cung religious site was honored to receive the decision to recognize it as a national architectural and artistic relic.
Vinh Long currently has 69 folk religious sites of the Chinese people, of which Cau Ke commune alone has 4 sites including Minh Duc Palace, Van Ung Phong Palace, Van Nien Phong Palace, and Thien Duc Palace.
These religious establishments were built by the Chinese community very early, hundreds of years old, with ancient oriental architecture, and many elaborately crafted sculptures, horizontal lacquered boards, and parallel sentences.

Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week, combining trade fair, delicious fruit cuisine and tourism promotion in Cau Ke commune in 2025, takes place from September 13 to September 19, including activities: Trade fair; culinary space; delicious fruit market in Cau Ke commune; display of images of Vu Lan Thang Hoi festivals; car service, multimedia mobile library; Southern amateur music exchange; sports ; discussion to connect and develop tourism in Cau Ke commune; especially the festival at Van Nien Phong Cung religious site.
