Vinh Phuc - New stature, new position

Overcoming difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh Phuc have joined hands and united to build their homeland to develop more and more, leaving many outstanding marks in all fields.

Vinh Yen city has a new look after 27 years of re-establishment.

27 years ago, Vinh Phuc was one of the poor provinces, with a low starting point and poor infrastructure, agricultural production played a key role but was still backward and rudimentary. In the field of industry and handicrafts, although there had been some signs of development, it was still small and fragmented. In particular, the field of attracting investment was even more limited. At the time of re-establishment, the whole province had only 8 projects with foreign direct investment (FDI) and 1 project with domestic direct investment (DDI).

With the spirit of solidarity and unanimity of the entire political system, after 27 years of construction and development, Vinh Phuc has made many proud marks, creating a solid foundation to strive to become a centrally-run city by 2050. Among them, it is necessary to mention the strong and comprehensive transformation of the economy.

In 1997, the average GRDP per capita in the province only reached 2.18 million VND/person. However, by 2023, despite the economic context facing many difficulties and challenges, Vinh Phuc's income and living standards were all in the top 10 provinces with the best indicators in the country.

In 2023, foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction in Vinh Phuc will reach more than 560 million USD, an increase of 21% compared to 2022 and reaching 140% of the plan.

From the beginning of 2024 to now, the whole province has attracted 46 projects, including 34 FDI projects with a total registered capital of more than 363 million USD, reaching nearly 91% of the plan assigned at the beginning of the year, an increase of nearly 40% over the same period.

The infrastructure system has also been invested synchronously and modernly. There are no longer long stretches of gravel roads or dusty dirt roads. Talking about Vinh Phuc today means talking about key projects, inter-regional transportation systems, meeting the travel needs of the people and creating momentum for socio-economic development such as: Dam Vac Bridge, Vinh Phu Bridge, railway overpass on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street (Vinh Yen); parallel road of Hanoi - Lao Cai railway (Northern route) from National Highway 2C to Hop Thinh - Dao Tu Street...

In the future, the province will continue to implement many other large projects such as: The traffic route project connecting from the Red River left dike to Van Phuc bridge; the project to build a different level intersection between Kim Ngoc road and Hanoi - Lao Cai railway; the Ring Road 4 project according to the transport development plan, the section from National Highway 2 to DT.305... thereby creating a synchronous and modern infrastructure, accelerating the industrialization and modernization process.

Along with the success in economic and infrastructure development, with the view that "everyone enjoys the fruits of development", in early 2023, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued a specialized Resolution on building a Model Cultural Village. This is a completely new model, a creative way of doing things, demonstrating Vinh Phuc's mark in concretizing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Nguyet Duc commune, Yen Lac district will become an advanced new rural commune from 2022 and is moving towards achieving the goal of a model new rural commune.

After 1 year of implementation, the rural appearance of Vinh Phuc has changed significantly. The whole province has completed 28 cultural and sports facilities, creating cultural, sports, commercial and service complexes with synchronous infrastructure, contributing significantly to improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

According to the plan, by the end of 2025, Vinh Phuc aims to complete 30 villages that meet the criteria of a Model Cultural Village and by 2027, 60 villages will be built with basic characteristics of spatial structure and landscape architecture that harmoniously combine tradition and modernity. This is considered an important lever to promote the potential and strengths of the locality.

After more than 27 years of re-establishment, returning to Vinh Phuc today means returning to the land where happiness is called. That happiness is not only expressed by growth and development figures but is also determined by the trust and satisfaction of each citizen.

This is the important foundation that creates solidarity, unanimity, and determination to build Vinh Phuc into the richest and most prosperous province in the North, as Uncle Ho advised when he visited more than 60 years ago.
