Not only do video sharing platforms often lend a hand to "trash music" or create a craze for music under 30 seconds, affecting the message of the song, they also create an environment for many people to "commit" themselves to becoming singers.

Sing live in a whisper
“Really, I've been addicted to the cover version (reprise - PV) of the original song It's you (Mộng Nhiên) for a whole week now. The first few days on TikTok, I saw it on the trend, then I scrolled through Facebook and saw this song, it sounds sweet, deep, and captivating. I still want to listen to it over and over again. This song is truly for Ms. Pham Lich. I thought so until I saw her live version (live - PV) at a music show in Da Lat. I don't know if the word "disillusioned" is appropriate, but I was really surprised and shocked", audience member Nguyen Thi Ngoc Suong (31 years old, living in Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City) said.
Recently, dancer Pham Lich received mixed opinions when the video recording her performance in Da Lat was shared. The perfect voice, strange timbre in the cover version of La Anh, which caused a fever on TikTok, with more than 15 million views on YouTube in the past month, almost disappeared when she sang on the live stage. Although the singing was not too bad, when standing on stage, Pham Lich's performance was not stable, still shaky, different from the original. The performance received many opinions that the singing was not really as good as what was shown in the audio version that is viral (popular, prominent) all over TikTok and Facebook.
“TikTok singers” have become a phenomenon recently when many people uploaded songs and music clips to video sharing platforms, attracting a lot of attention from the audience. Thanks to modern studio techniques, a normal or slightly above normal voice can still be “transformed” into a powerful voice, covering all platforms. Everything is flawless, flawless… from music to image, until the singers step onto the real stage.
Before Pham Lich, the audience was also surprised several times by the real voices of "trendy" singers such as D.LV, D.D., CTQ, XM..., even though they appeared with the title of singer intentionally or unintentionally. Stepping out of the studio, many "TikTok singers" sang live with a weak voice, poor stage presence... From the mindset of making "instant noodle" music to the copyright controversy of the songs, many problems have arisen.
Corrupt the message
The ease with which TikTokers have entered Vietnamese showbiz has made this already noisy place even more chaotic, upsetting the values of reality and virtuality. The deeper consequences are that much of the content produced on this platform is considered to be damaging the musical message, "helping" spread "trash music".
It must be said that this platform has brought See tinh (Hoang Thuy Linh), Hai phut hon (Phao), Buoc qua nhau (Thai Vu)... closer to domestic and international audiences. Many artists and music producers have also come up with strategies to spread songs on TikTok. However, there is a reality that many people in the entertainment industry have spoken out when TikTok is "ruining" their musical messages because of its haste and noise. What is the value of "15-second music", "30-second music"... taken from a song for a few minutes, what is the spread and how to conquer the audience is something many professional artists are concerned about.
Recently, rapper Mikelodic (underground - non-mainstream music genres) angrily posted a clip criticizing short clips on TikTok (speed-up versions) for "ruining the musical message" he wanted to convey through the song Du tra se dam. He believes that the indiscriminate remix edits on TikTok make his song faster and more urgent, which is not in the right spirit. This problem is not only faced by rapper Mikelodic but also by a number of other artists.
The “viral” (content transmitted in the form of videos, quickly spread) of TikTok videos cannot distort the nature of music, because a talented singer who is accepted by the audience must go along with the song, not only causing a fever but also having vitality. The phenomenon of singers creating “instant noodle” products that become famous quickly will also be eliminated soon because that is virtual talent. The quality of the song and the endless creativity are still the core that determines the development of a professional artist.
“TikTok singers have the right to sing, but if they don’t have real talent, their position is virtual, not that of a real singer. Time will prove which values are real and which are virtual. To be called a singer, I think many factors are needed. In addition to talent and suitable appearance, they themselves must learn and cultivate more. The real stage is where talent and performance skills can be demonstrated to win over the audience,” said audience member Pham Quynh Anh (38 years old, living in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City).
