(CT) - The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City recommends: In the upcoming 2025-2026 winter-spring rice crop, farmers need to comply with the principles of sowing and transplanting rice according to the crop schedule, to limit pests and improve production efficiency.

Autumn-winter rice in Can Tho city is harvested and fields are prepared for the next winter-spring crop 2025-2026.

Accordingly, Can Tho City plans to produce the winter-spring rice crop with an area of ​​about 290,747 hectares, with a harvest output of about 2,064,752 tons. Localities will arrange the crop season based on the city's crop schedule combined with the measures of "Sowing to avoid planthoppers, simultaneously, focusing on each region and each field", not sowing for a long time, not allowing many rice fields to intercrop in the same field.

The sowing and planting schedule is expected to include two phases: Phase I from November 14 to November 19, 2025 (from September 25 to October 30 of the lunar calendar); Phase II from December 14 to December 20, 2025 (from October 25 to November 1 of the lunar calendar). Localities should encourage people to sow rice in a concentrated and simultaneous manner, while still ensuring the time between crops, to ensure the quality of rice grains and limit post-harvest losses. This crop calendar is for reference only. Localities need to closely monitor local brown planthoppers and the migratory brown planthopper situation in combination with the hydrological regime to develop a specific crop calendar for the locality, with a minimum interval of 3 weeks between two rice crops, and sow rice according to the forecast of migratory brown planthoppers and local brown planthoppers of the Department of Agriculture .

Farmers need to prepare good seed sources, ensuring quality requirements. Choose suitable varieties for areas producing 2 or 3 crops/year, to ensure the isolation period between rice crops is at least 3 weeks.
