Quang Ngai: Heavy rain causes red mud to flood into people's houses

On October 6, residents of Tan Lap A village (Dak Mar commune, Quang Ngai province) were still dealing with the aftermath of heavy rain that washed away red mud that flooded into their homes.

According to the leader of Tan Lap A village (also known as village 12, Dak Mar commune), recently, when there was heavy rain, red mud from the high area was washed down to Ho Chi Minh road and flooded into people's houses. The heaviest rain was on the evening of October 4, with about 8 households affected. People quickly cleaned up inside their houses, but the area in front of the yard was still muddy and could not be cleaned up.

Mr. Pham Van Hoan (Tan Lap A village) said that this situation has happened many times in the past 2 months, with at least 4 times in September and 2 more times in October. The rain on the night of October 4 caused mud and water to flood into 2 of his family's houses, damaging a noodle machine and affecting production and business activities. Currently, the family has only finished cleaning one house, the other is still flooded with mud.

Part of Ho Chi Minh road was flooded with red soil, causing difficulty in traveling.

At the scene, mud and soil flooded down and covered part of Ho Chi Minh Road, making traffic through the area difficult. Authorities have placed warning signs and instructed vehicles to move slowly to ensure safety.

At 10:30 a.m. on October 6, Tan Lap A village continued to rain, causing red mud to flow heavily on the road. People had to use sandbags to block their doors to prevent mud and water from flowing into their houses.
