Arousing people's strength, caring for the lives of the poor

QTO - Promoting the central role of the great national unity bloc, in recent times, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Trach commune has always identified the work of caring for the lives of the poor and people in difficult circumstances as an important and regular task. With the spirit of solidarity and mutual love in the community, the Dong Trach Commune Front has carried out many meaningful and practical activities, contributing to ensuring social security and sustainable poverty reduction.

Mr. Phan Van Phieu, a veteran of Dong Trach commune, enlisted in the army in 1972. He fought on the front lines of Quang Binh province (old), such as: Road 20 Quyet Thang, Gianh ferry... In 1986, he was honored to be awarded the Second Class Resistance Medal.

Mr. Phieu shared: “Previously, my family lived in a level 4 house for many years, so it was degraded and not safe when the rainy season came. Fortunately, with the attention and support of the Fatherland Front at all levels and local authorities, my family was supported to build a new house under the housing support program for people with revolutionary contributions. From 80 million VND, support from the central government, the province, and 12 million VND from the call for support from Dong Trach commune and the family's mobilized funds, I was able to build a 90m2 house, to live in peace, and enjoy my old age with my children and grandchildren.”

With the goal of "leaving no one behind", recently, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Trach commune has promptly surveyed the living and housing situation of the people, taking advantage of programs, projects and support sources from superiors and socialized sources to build and repair great solidarity houses.

In particular, under the close and drastic leadership and direction of the commune leaders and the joint efforts of the people, the commune has effectively implemented Directive No. 42/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on accelerating the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for policy beneficiaries, people with revolutionary contributions, poor and near-poor households.

Thanks to that, up to now, the locality has basically eliminated temporary and dilapidated houses for policy beneficiaries, people with revolutionary contributions, poor and near-poor households to build new and repair 63 houses, with the amount of 4.7 billion VND from the support sources of the Central, the province, the locality and socialized sources. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has also built and repaired 37 solidarity houses with the amount of more than 2.1 billion VND.

Promoting the strength of the great national solidarity bloc in the commune, the Dong Trach Commune Front has gathered and mobilized the participation and support of all classes of people, organizations, individuals, businesses... to join hands to care for the lives of the poor. Thanks to that, from 2024 to now, the commune's "For the Poor" Fund has mobilized 1.2 billion VND.

In addition, from other mobilized sources, the Commune Front has supported livelihoods and production development for 51 cases, with an amount of 505 million VND; assisted in studying, medical examination and treatment, visited and helped people in difficult circumstances on the occasion of holidays and Tet for 490 cases, with an amount of over 1.5 billion VND... Socio-political organizations took advantage of support sources to create conditions and credit for union members, association members and people to borrow capital for production and business to develop the economy, increase income and stabilize people's lives.

In addition, the activities of gratitude, humanitarianism, charity, mutual love, and helping families affected by natural disasters are always focused on by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Trach commune. The commune front has coordinated to implement many meaningful contents and tasks towards policy families, Agent Orange victims, building and repairing gratitude houses; supporting people in the northern provinces to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 in 2024 (1.2 billion VND); supporting the people of Cuba (544 million VND)...

Along with the work of caring for the poor and people in difficult circumstances, patriotic emulation movements and campaigns initiated by the Front and its member organizations have also been implemented with remarkable results in recent times. The work of participating in Party building, government building, supervision and social criticism of the Front and socio-political organizations has achieved positive results, receiving the consensus and support of the people.

The operation methods of the Front and its member organizations have been innovated, creating a premise to consolidate and enhance the role and position of the Front in the new period. The achievements of the Front in recent times are of great significance, contributing to consolidating and promoting the great national unity bloc, enhancing social consensus, and affirming the trust of the people of Dong Trach commune in the Party and the government.

According to Mr. Phan Van Loc, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Trach Commune: "To ensure social security for the poor during the Lunar New Year 2026, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Trach Commune has developed a plan to organize the program "Tet for the poor". The Commune Front directs socio-political organizations to visit and give gifts to union members, policy families, poor and near-poor households, households with especially difficult circumstances, and orphans with both parents to promptly encourage, share and create an exciting and warm atmosphere so that all people in the commune can enjoy spring and celebrate Tet".

Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Trach Commune, Phan Van Loc, said that the current poverty rate in Dong Trach Commune is 0.87%, and the near-poor rate is 1.51%. To contribute to ensuring social security and sustainable poverty reduction, in the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the Commune will continue to mobilize people to participate in movements to support the poor (Fund "For the Poor", social security program) in the locality; propagate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on poverty reduction, health insurance, social insurance, education and health support... so that people can have full access. Supervise and provide social feedback on the implementation of poverty reduction and social security support policies, ensuring transparency, correct targets, and compliance with regulations; programs and projects related to poverty reduction and social welfare in the commune.

In addition, the Commune Front is interested in directing mass organizations to sign a trust with the Social Policy Bank to support loans for vocational training programs and production development to help poor households escape poverty sustainably. At the same time, connect organizations, individuals, and businesses to support the poor; implement humanitarian and charity programs in the community.
