Informing Tuoi Tre newspaper, many parents of Vo Thi Sau Primary School, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, said that after the incident in which many students of the school were suspected of being poisoned after eating at a boarding school on April 9, they asked the school to change the boarding school meal provider for the students, but this request has not been resolved yet.
According to parents, before the suspected food poisoning incident with many students at this school on April 9, they already felt insecure about the quality of the school's meals, as well as the role of parents in supervising the meals, so now they are even more worried.
"For the safety of our children, we parents really wanted to come and observe our children's lunch at school... But the school almost always refused.
The school said that parents who want to come and observe must register early and can only watch from a distance. Now many students have been hospitalized, but the school has not informed all the parents of the school, and has not allowed parents to work with the food supplier," said an angry parent.
Similarly, another parent said that after the above poisoning incident, some parents wanted to prepare lunch for their children to bring to school, but the school asked them to pick up their children and not allow children to bring lunch to school.
"We couldn't pick our children up for lunch, so we wanted them to bring lunch to school, but the school wouldn't let us. We're very worried, so we asked to change the lunch provider for the students, but the school hasn't resolved it yet," said a parent.
Responding to Tuoi Tre , Mr. Phan Thanh Phong - principal of Vo Thi Sau Primary School - said that after the incident of some students suspected of food poisoning on April 9, the school worked with the parent representative board and some parents had requests for boarding meals with the school as well as inspected the agency.
Regarding parents' complaints that the school does not allow students to bring lunch to school, Mr. Phong said that parents who want to bring lunch to school for their children need to submit a request to the school so that the school can know and manage it easily.
Mr. Phong also informed about the request to change the current boarding meal provider. The school is waiting for the conclusion of the relevant agency in the suspected food poisoning case on April 9 to make a decision with the meal provider.
"Currently, the school has worked with the unit providing meals for boarding students, so that next week the parents' representative board will visit the kitchen of the facility providing lunch for students. The school is doing the necessary work according to regulations to ensure providing the safest meals for students," said Mr. Phong.
Previously, as Tuoi Tre reported, on the evening of April 9 and the morning of April 10, many students at Vo Thi Sau Primary School showed signs of stomachache and vomiting. Some students were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning after eating a school lunch consisting of chicken wings and sour soup during lunch on April 9.
