Stopping to sit by a rock, the future teacher leaned her head on her boyfriend's shoulder, recalling the moment they met in August 2024. At that time, Duc was participating in training for the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army. Then, the training had to be temporarily suspended due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3 ( Yagi ), and Duc was able to return home to Van Yen district, Yen Bai province, which is also Hue's hometown. Before that, they had already been friends on Facebook without knowing it.

After exchanging messages on Facebook, they agreed to meet in person, right in her hometown. At their first meeting, Hue thought to herself, "What a dark-skinned guy," and throughout their conversation, she wasn't very impressed and spoke little. He, on the other hand, was drawn to the tall, fair-skinned girl sitting opposite him. Later, when they had developed feelings for each other, he jokingly said, "You're like condensed milk, and I'm the coffee; a perfect mix for love."

Upon their first meeting, knowing that his girlfriend wasn't yet smitten with him, Hong Duc decided to employ a strategy of "slow and steady wins the race." Every day, he regularly messaged her, inquiring about her health and encouraging her to study hard. Each story about the training ground, the life of a soldier, or sometimes just sharing about hurried meals during marches... helped the future teacher understand more about Duc's disciplined yet incredibly warm world . The more she talked to and interacted with the young officer, the more Hue felt he was sincere, understanding, gentle, and trustworthy.

The young couple's feelings gradually blossomed after exchanging messages, giving them strength to strive for excellence in their studies and work. During the Lunar New Year holiday, they shared beautiful moments together. On New Year's Eve, Hong Duc held his girlfriend's hand and confessed, "Let's be in love, okay?" At that moment, heart-shaped fireworks bloomed in the sky, a testament to their love. Their relationship became even stronger with the support of both families.

Throughout their relationship, despite Duc's busy work schedule, sometimes only managing to text her once every few days or having brief late-night phone calls, Hue always showed him understanding and empathy. Knowing his girlfriend was at a disadvantage, Duc compensated by showing his care quietly and sincerely. There were simple things that Hue would never forget, such as the gifts he gave her on October 20th: a wooden pen box engraved with her name and a pretty little anklet, along with a charming little house assembled from bullet casings. Hue recognized the subtle and skillful message her boyfriend conveyed about a happy family.
