Mr. Dang Quoc Thuy, the owner of a fishing boat, shared: “My family has been involved in the fishing industry for two generations. Currently, from vessel tracking devices to fishing logbooks, we fully comply with regulations. Adhering to the rules ensures peace of mind and allows us to continue fishing in the long term.”
Towards a center for aquaculture breeding and clean energy.
Taking advantage of its saltwater location, Gành Hào is becoming a center for producing high-quality aquatic animal breeding stock for the Mekong Delta region.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, General Director of Tam Mien Trung Aquatic Seed Company, the demand for fish fry is currently increasing sharply in many localities affected by saltwater intrusion such as Tay Ninh and Dong Thap. However, for the industry to develop sustainably, it is necessary to strengthen quality management and limit the circulation of substandard products on the market.
Every year, Gành Hào commune supplies billions of aquatic animal fry to the market.
Besides fisheries, Ganh Hao is also being developed as a logistics center for offshore wind power, a promising sector for Ca Mau in the future. Offshore wind farms not only contribute to the development of clean energy but also open up opportunities for the development of coastal ecotourism. Ganh Hao's marine economy is now linked not only to boats and water but also to the development of traditional processing industries. Many dried seafood processing facilities are creating stable jobs for local workers and gradually expanding their markets through online sales platforms.
Investing in infrastructure paves the way for coastal cities.
Despite its potential, Gành Hào still faces numerous challenges such as coastal sedimentation, inadequate transportation infrastructure, and the increasingly evident impacts of climate change. To overcome these "bottlenecks," the commune is focusing on mobilizing resources to invest in infrastructure serving the development of the marine economy with many key projects such as: upgrading and expanding Gành Hào Fishing Port to Class I standards; constructing a comprehensive Gành Hào seaport; investing in embankment projects to prevent erosion; developing the Đông Hải Industrial Cluster; a complex of housing, commerce, services, tourism, and renewable energy projects.
Xuan Mai Dried Goods Facility vacuum-packs its products for distribution outside the province.
Comrade Nguyen Huy Dung emphasized: "To develop the marine economy, infrastructure must be one step ahead." Currently, the locality is reviewing and adjusting the planning, completing functional zones in accordance with the orientation of a type V urban area, aiming to become a ward in the near future.
During the 2020-2025 term, the commune's total seafood production reached nearly 400,000 tons. Moving into the 2025-2030 period, the locality aims to increase this to 455,000 tons, with the service and trade sector accounting for the highest proportion in the economic structure. Ganh Hao beach now not only brings in boats overflowing with fish and shrimp but also carries the aspiration to build a prosperous, beautiful, and modern "coastal ward."
With the concerted efforts of the Party Committee, the government, and the people, along with the right development orientation, Ganh Hao is gradually asserting its position as a dynamic maritime economic center in the eastern part of Ca Mau province. Ganh Hao's journey of rising from the sea is a testament to the daring and proactive spirit of this southernmost region of the country. Here, each wave not only carries the breath of the ocean but also the transformation of a city reaching out to the open sea to enrich its homeland and nation.
Gành Hào commune is focusing on mobilizing resources to invest in infrastructure serving the development of the marine economy, with many key projects such as: upgrading and expanding Gành Hào fishing port to meet Class I standards; building Gành Hào general seaport; investing in embankment lines to prevent erosion; developing the Đông Hải industrial cluster; a complex of housing, commerce, services, tourism and renewable energy projects. |
