Surpassing Kiplimo, Nguyen Trung Cuong breaks the record at the Tay Ho half marathon

TPO - Not long after winning the Tien Phong Marathon 2025, Nguyen Trung Cuong excellently won the 21km distance at the Tay Ho Half Marathon 2025.

On the morning of April 13, Nguyen Trung Cuong and more than 12,000 athletes participated in the Tay Ho Half Marathon 2025 Powered by Thanh Xuan Valley, the tournament marking the 5th consecutive year of organization, continuing to affirm its position as the largest half marathon in Vietnam.

On the 21km run, surpassing Kenyan runner Mosbei Eric Kiplimo, Trung Cuong once again finished first with a time of 1 hour 06 minutes 17 seconds, thereby breaking the record and receiving the Record Breaking Award. This is also Trung Cuong's best achievement, surpassing the 1 hour 07 minutes 15 seconds newly set in Quang Tri , when winning the Tien Phong Marathon 2025.

In the women's 21km event, the golden girl of Vietnamese athletics Nguyen Thi Oanh finished after 1 hour 15 minutes 43 seconds while Pham Thi Hong Le came in second with a time of 1 hour 17 minutes 39 seconds. Other athletes also impressed, with Le Tien Long and Doan Thu Hang winning the men's and women's 15km events, and Luong Duc Phuoc and Hoang Thi Ngoc Oanh winning the men's and women's 5km events.

Over 5 seasons, Tay Ho Half Marathon has not only left its mark with impressive numbers in terms of scale and quality, but also positioned itself as the only race that carries the identity of Hanoi - through heritage, culture and the characteristic running space around the lake. The tournament contributes to promoting the community sports movement, while promoting the image of a dynamic, open and integrated Hanoi in general and Tay Ho in particular.

The Organizing Committee representative said that the goal in the coming years will be to expand the international scale, improve the organization standards, and continue to maintain the core philosophy: safety - professionalism - inspiration.
