The World Cup organizers in Monterrey have announced that public water stations will be set up around the Estadio BBVA stadium, along fan-friendly pedestrian streets, in parks, and other areas with high concentrations of people throughout the tournament. Local officials have identified ensuring free drinking water as a top priority, given that summer temperatures in this industrial city frequently exceed 38 degrees Celsius, sometimes reaching nearly 40 degrees Celsius.
In addition to the free water supply network, Monterrey will also increase the number of shaded areas, mobile medical support points, and rapid response teams in areas with large crowds of fans.
Despite facing weather challenges, Monterrey is still expected to be one of the most vibrant destinations for the 2026 World Cup thanks to its modern infrastructure and passionate football atmosphere. The city plans to host numerous activities for fans at Fundidora Park and an approximately 8-kilometer-long pedestrian street connecting the city center to the Estadio BBVA stadium.
According to the FIFA World Cup 2026 schedule, Monterrey will host four matches, including three group stage matches and one round of 32 match.
