According to information from the Tam Thanh Commune Party Committee, over the past four days, the commune has had heavy to very heavy rain, causing landslides on roads and hills near residential areas.

The main road connecting National Highway 217 through Tam Lu commune to Tam Thanh commune - the only road for this commune to reach neighboring communes and to the lowlands - has been seriously eroded at many points, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

Infrastructure is severely damaged, traffic is cut off, and many schools in Tam Thanh commune have mud and soil flooding into classrooms, disrupting people's lives. Preparations for the new school year 2025-2026 are facing many difficulties.

Many teachers working at remote schools in the commune have not been able to return to school due to traffic disruption. Students in remote villages are at risk of missing the first day of school on August 28.

In addition, Tam Thanh commune is lacking electricity and phone signal, which has severely affected the lives and activities of the people. Commune officials, teachers, and people who want to communicate by phone must "rely" on the signal from Laos.

Many families with small children and sick elderly people cannot access higher-level hospitals.

On the afternoon of August 27, Mr. Le The Anh - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tam Thanh Commune - said that the commune has more than 4,000 people, living in 8 villages. For the past three days, the commune has been completely isolated. There is no electricity grid, no phone signal, many places have been isolated by landslides.

People are facing difficulties, especially households living in remote villages.

Heavy rain and floods brought rocks and soil from the mountains down into the kindergarten and primary school in Cha Lung village, damaging tables and chairs.

Currently, the Party Committee and government of Tam Thanh commune are mobilizing human resources and mechanical equipment to handle landslides in order to soon clear the road from Tam Lu commune to Tam Thanh.

Then bring food, essential items, books, and school supplies to the commune to serve the people.

Tam Thanh commune leaders have directed schools to coordinate with the Youth Union, militia, and local people to focus on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, cleaning up, and repairing schools to prepare for the new school year.

Tam Thanh Commune People's Committee is synthesizing the details of the damage caused by floods and rains to report to Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee for support in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters," Mr. Le The Anh added.
