Returning from Germany, Vietnam U17 women's team won resoundingly in the Asian qualifiers

The Vietnam U17 women's football team defeated Guam U17 women's football team 5-0 in the opening match of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifiers at home.

On the afternoon of October 13, the Vietnam U17 women's team defeated Guam U17 women's team 5-0 in the opening match of Group D of the 2026 Asian U17 Women's Qualifiers held at Go Dau Stadium (Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

Compared to Vietnam women's football (ranked 37th in the world ), Guam women's football is quite weak (ranked 98th in the world). Therefore, the Vietnam U17 women's team easily dominated the match. Throughout the entire match, the ball almost only rolled on the Guam U17 women's field.

However, facing the crowded defense of Guam U17 women's team, the Vietnam U17 women's team also had difficulties in the first 20 minutes of the match. Coach Okiyama Masahiko's strikers had almost no truly dangerous attacks.

In that deadlocked match, star Nguyen Thi Minh Anh shined with a double before the end of the first half. In the 21st minute, this striker wearing the number 10 shirt shot from a narrow angle to score the opening goal. 20 minutes later, Minh Anh volleyed beautifully in the penalty area, doubling the gap.

In the second half, Yen Nhi continued to score, raising the score to 3-0 for the Vietnam U17 women's team. This goal also had Minh Anh's mark when she accurately passed the ball to Hong Thai, who passed it to Yen Nhi to finish close to the goal.

In the 72nd minute, Minh Anh ended her excellent performance with a long-range shot that beat goalkeeper Ahela Kaae, raising the score to 4-0 for the Vietnam U17 women's team. Not stopping there, Hong Thai headed the ball to seal a 5-0 victory for the home team in the 86th minute.

The resounding victory on the opening day helped the Vietnam U17 women's team gain a big advantage in the race for a ticket to the final round of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship.

According to the schedule, Guam U17 women's team will meet Hong Kong U17 women's team on October 15. Vietnam U17 women's team will meet Hong Kong U17 women's team in the final round taking place on October 17.

Vietnam U17 women's team just had a 2-week training trip in Germany

Preparing for the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifiers and at the same time preparing for the future, the Vietnam U17 women's team had a 2-week training trip in Germany within the framework of the cooperation program between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Bundesliga.

Here, coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team had the opportunity to experience training and competing at two traditional clubs, Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen.
