Le Cong Vinh got his B coaching license

Former famous Vietnamese football striker Le Cong Vinh has completed the AFC B-license coaching course, to get closer to coaching work.

On the morning of November 25, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) B-license coaching course, co-organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), closed after two training phases in 2025.

Phase 1 took place from September 8 to 19 in Ha Tinh and phase 2 from November 14 to 23 in Ho Chi Minh City. The course attracted the participation of many experienced coaches , including former female "Golden Ball" Do Thi Ngoc Cham and former captain of the Vietnamese team Le Cong Vinh.

On behalf of the whole class, coach Le Cong Vinh sent his thanks to Mr. Koshida Takeshi - VFF Technical Director and also the main lecturer of the course - for his dedication, discipline and valuable knowledge imparted.

The former striker, who holds the record for most goals scored for the Vietnamese national team with 51 goals in 83 matches, believes that the course is an important foundation for students to aim for higher goals in their careers. Especially when the training system and regulations for coaching qualifications are being implemented seamlessly in Vietnam.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Cong Vinh said: "I used to be a player, but when I switched to a coaching role, it was a completely different story, I needed to learn seriously.

The more I learn, the more interesting and good it is for my future if I pursue a coaching or management career. I will try to continue studying for my A degree, then my professional degree (Pro degree) in the near future."

Compared to his teammates of the same age, this 40-year-old former player attended the coaching training course much later and has not yet experienced coaching at a professional football team.

Former midfielder Nguyen Minh Phuong has been the head coach of a series of first-division and V-League clubs for a long time. Minh Phuong even has a Pro license and is currently leading Ho Chi Minh City Club in the 2025-2026 First Division.

Former midfielder Pham Thanh Luong is even about to get his Pro coaching license and is currently an assistant at the Hanoi Police Club in the V-League 2025-2026. Similarly, former striker Nguyen Viet Thang is also about to get his Pro license and is currently the head coach of the Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club in the First Division 2025-2026.

Cong Vinh is successful in his managerial role.

During the 2017-2018 period, Le Cong Vinh was the acting President of Ho Chi Minh City Club - the team now named Ho Chi Minh City Police Club competing in V-League 2025-2026.

In this management role, he had many ideas to make the team more and more professional, including a 5-star dressing room that was the leader in the V-League at that time.
