Student futsal tournament opens excitingly at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry

On the morning of November 4, the 2025 HDBank Futsal Tournament for students in Ho Chi Minh City opened at the Gymnasium of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry.

This is the third season organized by region after 2 seasons took place in the Central Highlands in 2023 and Hanoi in 2024. The tournament is organized by Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City University and Professional Sports Association, with the goal of creating a national futsal playground for young people.

This year’s tournament took place from November 4 to 12 with the participation of 12 educational institutions, representing the city’s leading universities. The teams were divided into 4 groups, competing in a round-robin format, with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vu Hai Quang - Deputy General Director of VOV, Head of the tournament's steering committee, shared: "The core value that student futsal brings is the spirit of healthy sportsmanship, a symbol of dynamic, creative Vietnamese youth who know how to burn themselves out for their passion.

The tournament is a valuable opportunity for students to exchange, learn, and demonstrate their school's cultural identity, affirming the pioneering role of the young generation in building a dynamic student community."

Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) - said that student futsal tournaments like this will make an important contribution to the development of the futsal movement and school sports, helping to develop futsal in the country.

Mr. Tu shared: "We have had a very stable student futsal movement and I believe that there will certainly be more universities participating in the coming time. This is the basis to help Vietnamese futsal clubs have many sources to recruit players.

With this solid foundation, the futsal team will certainly have more young players and good players."

Right after the opening ceremony, the opening match between Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry and Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages ​​and Information Technology took place with great excitement. As a result, the home team won 2-1.

The tournament's matches are broadcast live on the VOV Live Digital Content system, VOV Futsal and many other digital infrastructures of Voice of Vietnam, serving audiences who cannot go to the stadium to watch and cheer for the players.
