On the evening of November 4, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Da - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province - said that the unit had sent a document requesting the People's Committees of communes, wards and educational establishments to deploy measures to ensure safety for students and teachers during the time when storm Kalmaegi (forecasted to be storm No. 13) affects the province.

Educational establishments in coastal communes and wards and neighboring areas such as Song Cau, Xuan Dai, Binh Kien, Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen, Hoa Hiep, Xuan Loc, Xuan Canh, Tuy An Bac, Tuy An Dong, O Loan, Tuy An Nam, Hoa Xuan, Xuan Tho, Dong Xuan, Phu Mo and some other places announced that preschool children, pupils and students will be off from the afternoon of November 5 to the end of November 7 to avoid the storm.

Schools are required to proactively develop make-up teaching plans, ensure program progress, and regularly keep in touch with parents and local authorities to manage and ensure student safety during school breaks.

Along with that, educational institutions need to closely monitor weather conditions, check and reinforce unsafe areas, trim trees, and check drainage and electrical systems.

When necessary, prepare a plan to evacuate students, move documents and teaching equipment to a safe place, and coordinate with local authorities for support.

Previously, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province also directed that in case of complicated storms, schools can propose to let students stay home from school or organize online teaching and report to competent authorities for consideration.

After the storm passes, schools need to urgently clean up, tidy up classrooms, and check facilities to ensure absolute safety before resuming classes.
