Cho Gao Commune does a good job of gratitude

(ABO) Implementing the traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", "When eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree", in recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of Cho Gao commune, Dong Thap province have always paid attention to implementing well the work of "Repaying gratitude", showing gratitude to those who contributed to the revolution with practical and effective policies and actions, contributing to sharing and alleviating the loss of families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and families with preferential policies in the area.

Through the nation's long resistance wars, the commune has 445 martyrs, 121 wounded soldiers, 31 sick soldiers, 29 resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, 43 revolutionaries, resistance fighters, national defenders, and international duty fighters who were imprisoned by the enemy, 424 families were awarded the Resistance Medal; 72 mothers were awarded or posthumously awarded the state honorary title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother, of which 1 mother is still alive.

Identifying the work of "repaying gratitude" as one of the important political tasks of the locality, in recent times, the Party Committee and the communal government have focused on implementing well the work of resolving the regime and policies for war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution. Propagating and mobilizing the entire population to actively participate in responding to the "Repaying gratitude" movements, joining hands to take care of the material and spiritual life of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to the revolution.

The need for housing is essential for every household in general and policy households in particular. Cho Gao commune has done a good job in building and repairing houses for policy families, thereby demonstrating the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" of our nation; creating conditions for policy families to improve their housing, overcome difficulties, rise up in labor, production, and stabilize their lives. In addition, the commune is paying monthly allowances to policy beneficiaries with a total amount of 582 million VND, paying correctly, fully and promptly to the beneficiaries. Policy beneficiaries eligible for monthly allowances are all granted health insurance examination and treatment vouchers according to State regulations.

Currently, the whole commune does not have any poor households with difficult policies. With the efforts in leadership and direction of the Party committees and authorities at all levels, the policy households have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average standard of living of the people.

Vietnamese Heroic Mothers always receive spiritual and material attention from local authorities, people, organizations and individuals until the end of their lives. The units receiving support often visit the Mothers on holidays, New Year, and when they are sick. In addition to monthly support money, the units also give the Mothers some daily necessities.

Visit and give gifts to policy families in Cho Gao commune.

The whole commune is currently managing 1 Martyrs' Cemetery of the old Cho Gao district; managing 3 martyrs' memorial houses, the memorial stele of 8 ammunition carriers of Song Binh commune, which is a provincial-level historical and cultural relic. The management of martyrs' graves and cemeteries, the memorial stele house and historical and cultural relics are always invested in, upgraded, embellished and renovated, contributing to ensuring a green - clean - beautiful landscape, creating an aesthetic, respectful and solemn appearance, serving the martyrs' relatives and families attentively to visit the martyrs' graves on the occasion of holidays and New Year's in the year. At the same time, this is a spiritual, historical and traditional address for people inside and outside the commune to come to pay their gratitude and remember.

Implementing socialization, the commune has mobilized individuals and benefactors to contribute funds to build a caretaker's house, raise the foundation, upgrade, and plant trees inside and outside the cemetery. Organizing visits and offering incense to commemorate the dead on holidays, New Year, and War Invalids and Martyrs Day is regularly carried out by the locality.

Along with practical actions, the propaganda of the Party and State's policies on war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services is also focused on by the commune. The propaganda content focuses on mobilizing members, union members and people with the tradition of "Repaying gratitude" to care for and help families with policies in difficult circumstances. Regularly commend and organize meetings with typical families of war invalids and sick soldiers who are good at doing business and promote traditional education activities for the younger generation, care for children of families with policies...

Promoting the heroic tradition of the nation and its predecessors, the Party Committee, government and people of Cho Gao commune join hands and unanimously promote the potential and strengths of the locality, develop the commune's economy more and more, and focus on improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

Since its inception on July 1, the economic, cultural, social, national defense and security development in Cho Gao commune has been maintained stably. Currently, the average income per capita is 76.05 million VND/person/year; the poverty rate by 2025 will be 0.93%. The rate of households using electricity and the rate of rural households using clean, hygienic water will reach 100%.

In the coming time, along with the task of socio-economic development, Cho Gao commune will pay special attention to the work of caring for and improving the lives of people with meritorious services and policy families, considering this an important task, both a sacred sentiment and responsibility of the entire political system and the entire people, and a factor ensuring social progress and justice, deeply demonstrating the superiority and good nature of our state, while contributing to consolidating the great national unity bloc, enhancing people's trust in the leadership of the Party and State.

Take care of the education and training of the next generation of children of people with meritorious services to the revolution to become the core force, effectively contributing to economic, political, and social activities.

Cho Gao Commune focuses on providing housing support for people with revolutionary contributions according to Resolution 28/2021/NQ-HDND dated December 8, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council for the period 2022 - 2025, Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg dated November 22, 2024 of the Prime Minister and mobilized resources from the Commune's "Repaying gratitude" Fund. Party committees at all levels, authorities, Fatherland Front Committees, and local organizations focus on leading and directing the implementation of preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions.
