According to statistics, the entire commune currently has 3,705 children. The majority live in rural areas with difficult socio -economic conditions, lacking playgrounds and opportunities to access skill-building activities. Meanwhile, the risk of drowning and injuries among children remains high. In response to this reality, units, schools, and local authorities have organized numerous summer activities and awareness campaigns to improve children's knowledge of health, law, life skills, and self-protection.

Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of the Youth Union of Dong Ngu commune, said: "This year's summer activities are designed to suit each age group, focusing on cultural and artistic activities, sports , children's playgrounds, club activities, and talent classes such as swimming, football, and badminton. In addition, the locality is strengthening propaganda and equipping children with knowledge and skills to prevent drowning and injuries. In particular, we encourage Youth Union members to create short videos with integrated AI to change the way we disseminate skills on preventing drowning and injuries, making them more vivid, accessible, and helping children remember and implement them more effectively."
Not only during the summer, but the management, care, education , and protection of children are always considered a regular task in Dong Ngu commune, linked to ensuring social welfare, maintaining social order and safety, and building a safe and healthy living environment for children.

In the inspection and supervision work, the commune regularly conducts inspections through the Commune People's Committee and inter-agency teams, thereby promptly reminding and correcting shortcomings and limitations in the management, care, education, and protection of children.
In addition, educational institutions maintain regular health monitoring for students, coordinating with the health sector to effectively carry out primary healthcare and prevent school-related diseases.
For orphaned children, children with special circumstances, disabled children, and children from disadvantaged backgrounds, schools always pay close attention, coordinating with families and local authorities to provide appropriate support. Currently, the entire commune has 85 children in special circumstances; they are exempt from or receive reductions in contributions such as support for learning and psychological counseling, and are connected with organizations and individuals for sponsorship, scholarships, and necessary learning conditions. At the same time, businesses are being mobilized to sponsor two children with particularly difficult circumstances in the area, with a support level of 1 million VND/student/month.

Mr. Dinh Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Every year, the Commune People's Committee issues a plan and directs agencies, units, and schools to develop programs to implement child protection, prevention of violence and abuse against children, and integrate this content into programs on family work, gender equality, and prevention of domestic violence... Especially during this summer, the commune mobilizes units to equip children with the necessary digital knowledge, skills, and competencies for comprehensive development, becoming safe and responsible digital citizens. We are also mobilizing resources and promoting the role of agencies, units, social organizations, and philanthropists to continue supporting the Children's Protection Fund.
Through specific, practical, and regular activities, Dong Ngu commune is gradually building a safe and friendly living environment for children.
