My Huong commune was formed on the basis of merging the communes: My Huong, Phu My and Thuan Hung. After the merger, My Huong commune has an area of 104.74km² with a population of 51,412 people, with 3 ethnic groups: Kinh, Khmer, Hoa living together, in which the Khmer people account for 56.92% of the population.
With high consensus in the Party Committee, government and people, in the 2020-2025 term, My Huong commune achieved many outstanding results in many fields. In particular, the work of building the Party and the political system was identified as the key step. The locality focused on building the Party in terms of politics, ideology, cadre organization and increasing the recruitment of Party members. During the past term, My Huong commune Party Committee recruited 181 new Party members, reaching 134.07% of the target; 100% of grassroots Party organizations completed their tasks well, of which 20% completed them excellently.
Along with that, mass mobilization work, the implementation of emulation movements, activities of the Fatherland Front and organizations participating in the construction of new rural areas continue to be promoted. A typical example is the mobilization of social capital to build 55 rural traffic bridges with a total value of more than 16 billion VND, contributing to the completion of the inter-hamlet traffic system, facilitating people's travel and trade of goods.
Promoting the advantage of being an agricultural commune, My Huong has focused on promoting agricultural restructuring towards modernization, applying high technology and concentrated production. Over 90% of the cultivated area in the commune is specialty rice; effective farming models have been replicated, contributing to improving the quality, value of agricultural products and people's income. The livestock and aquaculture sectors have maintained a stable growth momentum; the total livestock herd in the commune has increased by nearly 16% compared to the beginning of the term.
My Huong has implemented national target programs synchronously and effectively, focusing on timely disbursement so that people, especially Khmer people, can soon enjoy ethnic policies. According to statistics, the disbursement rate of works and projects annually reaches over 95%. The locality also supports the construction of houses for 112 households, helps 53 households change their jobs, 63 households access dispersed water for daily life and supports production for 60 households. Thereby, contributing practically to reducing the poverty rate among ethnic minorities, an average of 2-3%/year.
Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, My Huong has actively implemented solutions to support livelihoods, provide vocational training and create jobs, helping the poor increase their income and access essential social services such as healthcare, education , clean water, etc. In the past 5 years, the commune has created jobs for 2,483 workers, reaching 156.16% of the target, of which 46 workers were sent to work abroad. Vocational training for rural workers has also achieved outstanding results, with 2,359 people trained, equivalent to 170.82% of the plan. Thanks to these efforts, the commune's poverty rate has decreased sharply, from over 3% in 2020 to less than 1% in 2025, completing the resolution target.
The new rural construction program continues to be promoted, bringing about many positive changes in all fields. The material and spiritual life of the people is constantly improving. The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" is widely and substantially implemented, with over 95% of households achieving the title of cultural family, 100% of hamlets recognized as meeting the standards of cultural hamlets.
Education, healthcare, health care and social security policies are fully implemented, targeting the right people, contributing to creating a solid foundation for human resource development and improving people's quality of life. National defense and security continue to be maintained, social order and safety are ensured.
Aiming for comprehensive development
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Cam, Party Secretary and Chairwoman of the People's Council of My Huong commune, affirmed: "The results achieved in the past term are a solid foundation for the Party Committee and people of My Huong to enter the new term with new spirit and aspirations. In the 2025-2030 term, My Huong aims for the common goal of Can Tho city to become a national growth pole and a dynamic center of the region by 2030".
According to the Secretary of the Party Committee of My Huong Commune, the Party Committee of the Commune also determined the general goal for the next term as building a commune with comprehensive and sustainable development; meeting advanced new rural standards; promoting economic restructuring, focusing on high-tech agriculture; developing collective economy and cooperatives associated with value chains. Along with that, priority is given to investing in connecting traffic infrastructure, education, health care, social security and improving the quality of human resources. Socio-economic development is associated with preserving cultural and national identity; promoting administrative reform, digital transformation, towards building a smart commune. In addition, My Huong continues to maintain national defense and security; build a clean and strong political system; build an effective, creative government that serves the needs of the people well.
To realize that vision, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Cam said that the commune has proposed 3 breakthroughs and 4 main groups of solutions. Accordingly, My Huong will promote restructuring the agricultural sector towards commodity production, reasonable scale, application of biotechnology, modern techniques in cultivation and livestock breeding. Effectively implement the program of building advanced new rural areas, ensuring criteria on environment, life, income, security and order. In particular, My Huong will encourage local start-ups, support small production models associated with consumption through e-commerce platforms, in line with the orientation of digital transformation in agriculture. The commune proactively mobilizes socialized resources to invest in electricity, water, and rural transportation systems; support people to access policy credit capital, especially poor households, near-poor households, and policy families with economic development needs.

Science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are considered one of the key driving forces for the socio-economic development of My Huong. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Cam said: "The locality will step up propaganda to raise awareness among officials, party members and people about the practical benefits of digital transformation. The application of information technology in administrative reform, especially in essential areas such as land, household registration, social policy, insurance, etc. will continue to be promoted".
In the coming term, My Huong will continue to focus on improving the quality of people's lives. The facilities and quality of medical examination and treatment at the commune health station will be upgraded synchronously. Social security policies, care for people with meritorious services, poor households, ethnic minorities, etc. will be implemented effectively and to the right target. "We determine that economic development must be associated with social security, preserving cultural identity and protecting the environment. My Huong will improve the material and spiritual life of the people. At the same time, maintain political stability, security, order and social safety" - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee Nguyen Thi Hong Cam emphasized.
With a solid foundation, especially the solidarity of the Party, government and people, My Huong commune is gradually affirming its new position. The spirit of initiative, determination and innovation will be the driving force for My Huong to realize its aspiration for comprehensive and sustainable development in the 2025-2030 term.
