The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Private Economic Research and Development Board (Board IV), the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), a number of export industry associations (aquaculture, logistics, electronics, etc.) and leaders of member units of the Economic Diplomacy Steering Committee.
The meeting took place in the context of the world economy continuing to have complicated developments, while Vietnam set a high growth target of 8% - requiring efforts and breakthrough solutions in economic diplomacy.
In her directive speech, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang emphasized that the current situation is more urgent, the requirements are more challenging, and the goals are also higher.
In that context, economic diplomacy needs to have many new points and new breakthroughs, linked to the implementation of new resolutions, especially on science and technology, and at the same time must have specific results - this requires a clear understanding of current difficulties and challenges and identifying specific requirements in each field.
Enhance adaptability and support role
At the meeting, associations and businesses shared the difficulties and obstacles they are facing in the context of a complex world economy. Exports are tending to be overly dependent on certain markets, while competitive pressure is increasing due to tariff and trade defense measures. FDI capital flows are not really sustainable in the context of changing globalization.

Enterprises face a lack of information about markets, consumer trends and technical regulations in potential markets. In addition, some domestic administrative procedures are still cumbersome, not creating maximum convenience for enterprises' overseas investment activities.
The meeting also discussed the role and support methods of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in improving the adaptability of businesses in the new situation, such as providing market information and connecting with partners.
Regarding the promotion of the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on science, technology development, innovation and digital transformation, a representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology presented Vietnam's strategic international cooperation orientation on technology.
Regarding technology diplomacy, the representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology proposed a new approach "going backwards" from strategic technology products to specifically identify which enterprises implement, who implements and how. In the direction of international cooperation, connecting with international partners to learn from implementation experiences is essential.

Identify essential focus
Based on the opinions discussed at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang directed the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee to coordinate with units to identify a number of essential focuses in the last 6 months of the year, synthesize and develop an appendix attached to the Prime Minister's Report on economic diplomacy in the first 6 months of the year and key work in the last 6 months of the year.
In the coming time, it is necessary to focus more on promoting political and diplomatic advocacy for the difficulties of associations and enterprises, while affirming the readiness to accompany associations and enterprises in trade promotion and market connection activities. The Deputy Minister suggested organizing more in-depth working sessions to improve the effectiveness of trade promotion in conjunction with the activities of senior leaders.
Regarding internal mechanisms, the Deputy Minister requested that there must be an effective coordination mechanism, and regulations can be issued to ensure effective implementation with specific results. In the coming time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to promote the organization of regular meetings with the participation of ministries, branches, localities, associations, and enterprises to focus on removing difficulties in key sectors and fields, contributing to concretizing the motto of taking people, localities, and enterprises as the center of service.
