Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Minh Dien, President of the Vietnam Pediatric Association, Director of the National Children's Hospital, said that the current situation of infectious diseases caused by bacteria is becoming more complicated, every day people have to face countless different types of disease-causing viruses, which have the ability to spread quickly and increase the risk of disease. Immediately after the COVID-19 epidemic, the risks of overlapping epidemics and overlapping diseases have seriously affected children's health such as seasonal flu Adenovirus... and now hand, foot and mouth disease, pneumonia caused by mycolpasma bacteria.

Therefore, this is an urgent time to raise awareness of hygiene and strengthen comprehensive health protection for children nationwide. With the commitment and support of the Lifebuoy brand from Unilever Vietnam, the Vietnam Pediatric Association has made specific plans to implement practical programs and social activities to carry out the mission of raising public awareness of infectious diseases in the period 2023-2025.

The long-term cooperation program will focus on key areas such as: Strengthening community communication education to build hygiene habits to prevent diseases in children; Providing medical support for children; Supporting scientific research activities, conferences, seminars and disseminating scientific knowledge related to infectious diseases in children.

It is expected that the cooperation program will be launched in 2023 with a series of activities such as accompanying hospitals across the country to implement free medical examination and treatment activities, promoting propaganda and education on how to recognize and care for children to prevent epidemics, especially diseases that are at risk of breaking out in the current seasonal transition such as flu, hand-foot-mouth disease, and instructions on proper hygiene care.

It is estimated that more than 15,000 sets of child care and hygiene handbooks and product sets will be delivered to mothers and babies across the country within the framework of the cooperation program.

Within the framework of the program, the “Strong Vietnam” Fund will also be introduced to provide free health check-ups for children in remote areas and support medical treatment for children in difficult circumstances. At the same time, the two units will work together to develop a handbook “Guidelines for child care and hygiene to prevent infectious diseases” to propagate and disseminate documents at 17 hospitals across the country./.
