The Department of Health is developing 6 health sector databases. Of which, the Hospital Management System (HIS) is used at 58 medical examination and treatment facilities; the Management Information System (HMIS) for commune, ward and town health stations has been deployed at 100% of commune, ward and town health stations.
Electronic health records (Health records database in Quang Nam province) started to be deployed in 2018, but have not yet reached 100%. The intelligent medical operation system (medical IOC) is under construction and is not yet complete.
The remote medical examination and treatment consultation platform in the province is being proposed to invest 8,837 billion VND for the period 2026 - 2030. The smart hospital model is being proposed for pilot implementation at 3 provincial general hospitals (Provincial General Hospital, Regional General Hospital, Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital).
According to the Department of Health, the implementation of the health data system has encountered many difficulties due to the lack of synchronization in medical examination and treatment data. Currently, the databases have not been connected and interconnected to form a common database on local health to ensure the storage and management of all centralized data of the industry and interconnection with the National Health Data Center.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu requested the Department of Health to urgently speed up the progress of building and completing the health sector data system. Difficulties need to be promptly summarized, solutions proposed, and reported to the Provincial People's Committee for timely resolution.
Mr. Buu suggested that the Department of Health deploy peak periods to strive to complete the Electronic Health Record Database by June 2025. During the implementation process, the Department needs to study and learn from the experience of implementing electronic medical records and electronic health records of localities, thereby adjusting and applying them appropriately to the conditions of Quang Nam. At the same time, closely coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to ensure the construction of a synchronous, effective and interconnected database to serve the work of public health care.
