Get Started with NDA Trace
The National Data Association (NDA) has just introduced the NDA Trace platform, a traceability solution developed by Vietnamese people, integrated on national platforms, applying blockchain technology (NDA Chain) and decentralized identification (NDA DID).
Accordingly, each product is assigned a unique identification code, helping to track the entire journey from production to consumers. All operations of subjects in the supply chain are recorded and authenticated, cannot be faked, cannot be edited. Through the NDA Trace Portal, businesses can easily initialize product identification information (called NDA Trace UID code). The NDA Trace UID code is attached to the product packaging in the form of a QR code or RFID chip, not only ensuring safety but also making it easy to authenticate the product through each stage. The NDA Trace UID code meets the international GS1 standard and is compatible with the EBSI Trace 4EU global authentication and traceability system, providing comprehensive support for businesses connecting cross-border supply chains.
Accordingly, using NDATrace scans the UID code on each product to authenticate production, import, quality control, packaging, transportation and sales activities. All of these authentication activities are fully recorded in the form of digital certificates (VC) throughout the product life cycle. Users can easily scan the UID code to trace the origin of each product in a transparent, safe and effective manner.
To apply this technology widely, Mr. Bui Ba Chinh, Acting Director of the National Code and Barcode Center, said that in the third quarter of 2025, the authorities will establish a project steering committee to deploy NDA Trace, standardize UID codes, and deploy root authentication nodes. In the fourth quarter of 2025, this comprehensive traceability platform will be piloted in 3 localities and industry groups; complete mandatory identification legal documents. NDAChain as the platform
Vietnam is in a period of drastic digital transformation, in which data authentication for more than 100 million residents, ministries, sectors and all provinces, cities and communes has become an urgent task. However, with the volume of digital data growing exponentially, the current centralized model faces challenges: difficulty in handling the huge volume of transactions from hundreds of millions of users; the risk of cyber attacks that can cause data loss or economic paralysis... lack of connectivity with global standards, limiting cross-border data exchange.
To solve the above problems, Vietnam has chosen to build a national blockchain platform from a combination of the National Data Center (centralized) and NDAChain - National Blockchain Platform (decentralized). NDAChain acts as a layer of protection, authenticating civil and economic data before accessing the data of the National Data Center. NDA said that NDAChain has high performance (1,200-3,600 transactions/second), superior security with Zero-Knowledge-Proof (ZKP) and encryption, and complies with international standards W3C DID, GDPR.
Underlying NDAChain are platforms such as NDA DID and NDAKey, which will support effective data management for citizens and businesses. From now on, Vietnamese citizens can easily verify the identity of partners with NDAKey before making financial transactions, online purchases, accessing strange domains or signing digital contracts. This helps protect users from impersonation of individuals, organizations or online fraud. The NDATrace platform for identifying, authenticating and tracing the origin of goods is built on NDAChain, creating a unique identifier for each product (UID), thereby helping to transparently track the entire process from production to consumers, comprehensively supporting businesses connecting cross-border supply chains and domestic consumption.
Mr. Nguyen Huy, Head of the Technology Department of the National Data Association, said that the national blockchain platform is being developed. NDA expressed its desire that state agencies, businesses and people join hands to build and develop NDAChain through participating in pilot projects, contributing ideas and developing platforms to create an advanced, sustainable and prosperous digital Vietnam.
Citizens and businesses can control their own data
NDAChain has been operational since Q1-2025, integrated with the national decentralized identification platform, processing about 20,000 transactions/day (data on people, items, places, activities) and built on the blockchain platform with 49 public-private validation nodes, including the National Data Center, ministries, departments, provinces and large corporations such as SunGroup, Sovico, Masan , VNVC... have also participated in this platform. Each validation node includes a ledger, transaction processing mechanism and smart contract, distributed at the National Data Center, corporations and provinces, eliminating the risk of single-point attacks. The right to participate in the network of units and enterprises is approved by the National Data Center, ensuring control and safety.
NDAChain has the potential to be widely applied in many fields such as citizen record management, online public services, national digital currency, smart financial contract management as well as safe storage and sharing of electronic medical records, degree management to ensure authenticity and transparency...
Currently, NDAChain is upgrading its infrastructure, integrating root validator nodes, expanding validator nodes, training and international cooperation, towards a sustainable data ecosystem. In parallel, NDAChain's infrastructure is being upgraded to increase performance and add smart transaction management and real-time monitoring features. This phase focuses on improving processing speed and reducing latency, ensuring the platform is ready for large-scale applications. By Q3-2025, NDAChain will be integrated into the National Data Center, establishing the Center as a root validator node and evaluating to recognize NDAChain as a national blockchain platform. At the same time, deploy validator nodes at typical ministries and branches, ensuring stable operation and supporting the consensus mechanism. In Q4-2025, NDAChain will expand its network with validator nodes in provinces, typical enterprises, research institutes and universities. It can be said that NDAChain brings a national blockchain platform that is secure, transparent and has outstanding scalability. With pioneering applications such as NDAKey, NDA Trace.. and plans for deep integration with other platforms, NDAChain aims to become a place where citizens and businesses can control their data in a trusted environment. This is not only a technology platform, but also a symbol of the aspiration to rise up, making Vietnam a pioneering country in the digital age.
