Hanoi 360 cancer patients being treated at K Hospital and their families were taken home for Tet by 13 "Love Buses".
On the afternoon of February 1, after the New Year's Eve dinner at the hospital, many patients, carrying backpacks and bags, gathered at the "special bus stop" in front of K Hospital. Doctors and nurses in white coats arranged their belongings and guided each patient onto the bus. The elderly and children were given priority seats.
"This year, I am very excited because I don't have to go to the bus station to find a bus to go home, and at the same time, I can save money for medical treatment," Ms. Van, who has breast cancer and is being treated at Department of Internal Medicine 5, shared before saying goodbye to the doctors.
Mr. Thanh, who has stomach cancer, and his daughter packed their belongings and got on the car to return to Ha Tinh . He said he was in the process of receiving 5 doses of chemotherapy. When the hospital announced that there was a vehicle to take patients home, he registered for the father and daughter because it would save more than a million VND.

Prof. Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, said that near Tet, bus stations and train stations are always overloaded and crowded. Cancer patients have financial and health difficulties, and traveling a lot causes difficulties and inconveniences. Instead of having to go to crowded bus stations, people will be picked up for free at K Hospital. This is the 8th year that this place has become a "loving bus station", taking patients home to celebrate the traditional Tet holiday.
This year, the program will take place in two phases, the first phase at noon on February 1 (ie December 22) and the second phase on the morning of February 7 (ie December 27). The buses will travel along the following routes: Hai Duong - Hai Phong; Thai Binh - Nam Dinh; Phu Tho - Tuyen Quang; Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan; Hoa Binh - Son La; Yen Bai - Lao Cai; Bac Ninh - Bac Giang - Lang Son; Ninh Binh - Thanh Hoa - Nghe An - Ha Tinh.

At noon that same day, the hospital prepared more than 200 New Year's Eve meals at the hospital canteen. Hundreds of red envelopes were given to each patient by doctors and sponsors. Mr. Lennor Carrillo, General Director of Roche Pharma Vietnam, said that many children with cancer had to be treated at the hospital, and some could not return home to reunite with their extended families. The red envelopes and small gifts will help ease the pain and bring joy to the children and their families.
K Hospital was established in 1969, formerly known as the Indochina Curie Institute, established on October 19, 1923. This is the final cancer treatment hospital in the North, with three facilities in Hanoi.
