The Public Transport Management Center (HCMC Department of Transport) has just sent a document to the Southern Airport Authority and related units about the plan to transfer passengers from Tan Son Nhat airport during the peak Tet holiday in 2025.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center proposed to arrange two 30-seat buses to park in the buffer zone in front of the international arrival terminal. When there are many passengers arriving at the international or domestic terminal and there are no taxis available to serve them in time, the authorities will dispatch buses to clear the way.

Bus route from the international terminal - domestic terminal - parking lot on Hong Ha Street - International Terminal. At the parking lot on Hong Ha Street, passengers can easily catch taxis and technology cars to go home more conveniently, instead of waiting for a long time inside the airport.

These two buses operate as shuttle buses, free for passengers to use. The implementation period is from tomorrow, January 23 (December 24) to January 27 and from February 1 to February 5.

To coordinate the organization of passenger transfers, the Public Transport Management Center will take the lead in creating a group on the Zalo application "Bus - quick response, passenger relief". The group members will include representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, Southern Airport Authority, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the Public Transport Management Center and Phuong Trang Futabuslines Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company (the unit with passenger transfer vehicles).

Tan Son Nhat International Airport is expected to operate more than 26,000 flights with more than 4 million passengers arriving and departing during the Tet holiday from January 14 to February 12 (from December 15 to January 15), including more than 1.5 million international passengers and more than 2.5 million domestic passengers. The average output during this period is forecast to be around 800 flights/day. Of which, the peak day is expected to operate more than 970 flights. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of flights increased by 6.25% and the number of passengers increased by 5.36%.

According to the representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, today (January 22, December 23), the airport is expected to operate 982 flights arriving and departing with more than 141,000 passengers. Of which, the domestic terminal has more than 86,000 passengers (nearly 25,000 arriving passengers and more than 61,000 departing passengers); the international terminal has more than 54,000 passengers (departing and arriving passengers are approximately more than 27,000 passengers).

Thus, the number of passengers arriving and departing from Tan Son Nhat airport on January 22 is forecast to increase sharply compared to yesterday (January 21), when 901 flights with more than 123,000 passengers were operated.

A representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that the number of passengers today (January 22) reached more than 140,000 people, considered the highest number since the beginning of the peak season. In the coming days, the number of passengers will continue to increase.
