Sleeper bus burned to the ground

In Ninh Binh, a sleeper bus traveling on the Lang Son - Ha Tinh route caught fire; approximately 30 passengers managed to evacuate before the flames engulfed the bus on the evening of January 2nd.

At approximately 11:40 PM, a sleeper bus traveling on bypass road 477, near the Ninh Van stone gate in Hoa Lu district, caught fire in the cargo compartment. The driver quickly pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and instructed passengers to evacuate.

"After about 10 minutes, the fire had engulfed the vehicle. Only a small amount of cargo in the compartment was saved; most of it burned along with the vehicle," a witness said.

The Ninh Binh Provincial Police mobilized four fire trucks and numerous officers to the scene. By midnight, the fire was extinguished; however, most of the vehicle's components were destroyed, leaving only the frame.

The cause and extent of the damage from the fire are being investigated.
