Together with staff from the commune's health station, we visited Hoa Mi Kindergarten to disseminate information about measures to prevent and control summer diseases. There, the health station staff instructed the teachers and students to strictly adhere to daily hygiene practices, always keeping classrooms well-ventilated to allow natural light in. They also emphasized the importance of regularly washing all toys and visual teaching aids to minimize the spread of germs. Furthermore, they stressed the need to clear overgrown bushes and overturn containers holding stagnant water within the school grounds to eliminate breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes and prevent dengue fever.

Ms. Cam Thuy Linh, the school principal, informed: The school currently has 11 classes with 260 children and 21 teachers directly teaching the classes. Every morning when welcoming the children, the homeroom teachers always carefully observe the behavior of each child. If a child shows signs of fever, cough, or rash, the school will proactively notify parents to take their child to a medical facility for examination, avoiding cross-infection. During hot days, the menu is enhanced with refreshing dishes and supplemented with green vegetables and fruits.

From the beginning of April until now, Ta Khoa commune has recorded 12 cases of influenza, 1 case of mumps, 7 cases of chickenpox, and 1 case of diarrhea... All infected cases were detected, advised, and treated promptly, with no severe cases requiring referral to higher-level hospitals.
Experiencing fatigue, headache, mild fever, sore throat, and red rashes starting on the head and eyes and spreading to the rest of the body, Lu Hoang Viet, from Ta Do village, visited the Ta Khoa commune health station and was diagnosed with chickenpox. Viet shared: "The doctor prescribed medication to treat the symptoms and applied ointment to the chickenpox spots. After a week of treatment, my health is now stable."
Discussing disease prevention and control efforts in the area, Dr. Ha Van Hoa, Head of Ta Khoa Commune Health Station, informed: In order to minimize the risk of disease transmission to the community, the station has coordinated and intensified propaganda through the village's loudspeaker system, social media, and mass media... actively encouraging people to have their children fully vaccinated against diseases.

From the beginning of the year until now, Ta Khoa commune has had 69 children fully vaccinated according to their age; 98 children fully vaccinated with the 5-in-1 vaccine; 104 children vaccinated against measles and rubella at the appropriate age; and 119 children fully vaccinated with all three doses of the Japanese encephalitis vaccine… with no cases of severe complications due to vaccination. The entire commune has 22 village health workers and population collaborators who closely monitor the area, promptly detecting outbreaks early and informing the grassroots health system to prevent and control epidemics.

Alongside preventive measures, the Ta Khoa Commune Health Station proactively reviews and ensures adequate logistical support, preparing sufficient quantities of medicines, supplies, and medical equipment to meet the requirements of local epidemic prevention and control. The station regularly sends staff to training courses to improve their professional capacity, surveillance skills, detection, investigation of disease-causing agents, and to update their knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, emergency, intensive care, and patient care guidelines organized by higher-level health units.
With the motto "Prevention is better than cure," and with the proactive involvement of the health sector and local authorities, each citizen also needs to raise awareness of maintaining personal hygiene and a clean living environment, proactively preventing and controlling diseases, and contributing to protecting the health of their families and communities.
