Passenger bus burned to the frame

Dong Thap: A 36-seat passenger bus running on Highway 80 through Chau Thanh district suddenly caught fire, many passengers panicked, March 7.

At around 9am, a sleeper bus carrying nine people from Kien Giang to Dong Nai caught fire at the back of the bus when it reached Cai Tau town. The 34-year-old driver tried to put out the fire but was unsuccessful, so he shouted for all passengers to escape from the bus.

The nearby district police dispatched a water truck to put out the fire, but it spread very quickly. After 15 minutes, the car was reduced to its frame, burning two motorbikes and some of the passengers' luggage.

The incident caused a long traffic jam on Highway 80. The local authorities of Chau Thanh district sent officials to encourage and support some of the travel expenses for passengers to continue their journey.
