Consider paying 2 months pension before Tet

(Dan Tri) - Vietnam Social Security is assigned to consider paying 2 months of pension and allowance in the same payment period of January 2025, creating conditions for people to happily celebrate Tet.

According to Resolution 233/NQ-CP on the regular Government meeting, the Government requires Vietnam Social Security to sustainably develop social insurance and health insurance coverage.

Notably, the Government assigned the Vietnam Social Security to consider, according to its authority, the payment of 2 months of pension (January and February 2025), social insurance benefits at the same payment period as January 2025, creating conditions for people to happily celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025.

At the same time, this agency closely coordinated with agencies and localities affected by storm No. 3 to promptly complete tasks and solutions to overcome the consequences of the storm, contributing to stabilizing people's lives.

For many years, the Social Insurance agency has also paid 2 months of pensions to people on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year.

In 2024, to facilitate pensioners and social insurance beneficiaries to celebrate the traditional New Year, Vietnam Social Security will provide funds to pay pensions and social insurance benefits for January and February 2024 to Social Security of provinces and cities, to pay to beneficiaries in the same payment period of January 2024, including beneficiaries receiving in cash and receiving through personal accounts.

More than 3.3 million people have received monthly pensions and social insurance benefits for January and February 2024 before the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, through flexible payment methods such as: cash payment at payment points; payment at home; payment via personal accounts.

To date, about 78% of beneficiaries in urban areas receive social insurance and unemployment benefits via ATM cards, an increase of 14% compared to 2023.

Previously, the announcement of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs stated that during the Lunar New Year 2025, civil servants, public employees and workers will start the Tet holiday from Saturday, January 25, 2025 (ie December 26, Giap Thin year) to Sunday, February 2, 2025 (ie January 5, At Ty year). The holiday lasts for 9 consecutive days.
