The Department of Health has just received a document from the Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health regarding information on 14 cough syrup products that are banned in some countries but have not been licensed in Vietnam. These products, manufactured in India and Indonesia, contain Diethylene, which can lead to serious health damage or death for users.
Previously, the Ministry of Health announced that it had received a telegram from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) warning Interpol member agencies about hundreds of children who had died or suffered acute kidney damage after using 14 banned syrup products in several countries. The health sector noted that if these products are found circulating in the provincial market, they should be recalled, destroyed, and violations by pharmaceutical businesses should be handled according to regulations to prevent harm to users, and any results of the incident should be reported.
