The Department of Health has just received a document from the Department of Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health regarding information about 14 cough syrup products banned from use in some countries that have not been licensed in Vietnam. These products are manufactured in India and Indonesia and contain Diethylene, which can lead to serious health damage or death for users.
Previously, the Ministry of Health said it had received a telegram from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) warning Interpol member authorities that hundreds of children had died or suffered acute kidney injury after using 14 syrup products banned in several countries. The health sector noted that in case these products are found circulating in the provincial market, it is necessary to recall, destroy and handle violations by pharmaceutical businesses according to regulations, to avoid causing harm to users and report the results of the incident (if any).
